Any reason Cura tries to connect to that IP when starting up? I realise it might be local to my LAN, but I have no clue why it would try to connect to a local IP, let alone one that is not in use..

Well I guess you guys have the numbers and it is up to you to decide, I was just thinking out loud If the cases are so low and the replacement parts are shipped quickly enough it should be fine indeed. I've been evaluating printers for over 2 years before I decided to purchase the UM2. I can't imagine how I would feel if - after such a long wait - a printer would arrive that doesn't work because of shipping damage. Would probably track down the delivery guy and mess him up

Man if I see all these damage pictures passing by I am so glad that mine arrived in one piece and okay. Can't UM wrap a bit more? Like add styrofoam corners and a bigger box? I can imagine that the cost of sending replacement parts is a lot higher than the value of the stock of remaining boxes?

I tried the recreus sandals... The soles started out really nice but once it had to start on the overhangs to get stuff connected everything went to sh*t really quickly Looks like those shoes are better, overhang wise, but I'll have to buy a new color then. I only have purple filaflex atm

That key is nice, is that your own model? Toyed around with my new glow in the dark filament for the first time. What better to print than a ghost?

I think part of the UM marketing strategy is to make the printer look "less techy" so they can reach a broader audience. If people don't see all that tech info they think it's easier in use i guess? In any case, it has annoyed me to bits that there is no "geek version" of the info display. Sure you can get to the temperature and material flow status by using the tune menu, but height and so on during a print? Forget it...

Just ordered the fan from ebay. Curious how much that is going to give. The printer in itself is very silent, both those 2 fans... my god

If you slice the same stl via cura, does it have the same problem? If not, you might want to send that STL to S3D support, perhaps they can improve their sanity checking.

Sounds very cool but you'd need a seriously advanced join for the front wheels. Wheels straight up, rotor pointing backwards to drive Wheels straight up but turned to take a curve. The rotor needs to remain pointing backwards as to not hit the body. So it needs to hinge. Wheels rotated in flying mode. Even if the rotor can rotate a bit (which I assume it does for steering in the air), the chances of hitting the body are still there (or you need to use the rotors to turn and do it very slowly)

Weird. Printed it on my um2 without brim or anything, not a single issue.

Might have to look into that as well. Mine is super loud. I also have a very loud side fan. They promised they would send a replacement for it because it's been rattling since I got the printer but haven't heard anything anymore...

Yes, but you'd need something "gear'y" to be able to overcome the speed difference between wheel rotation (I assume we were talking about driving the thing on the ground as well?) and rotor rotation. If the wheels are just some kind of nice looking landing gear, forget what I said

You'd either need a sort of gear system in each wheel then to switch between rotor/wheel action, or have 2 axes going to each wheel, one that drives the rotor at a much higher rpm and one for the wheel rotation. That still doesn't solve tilting the wheels inwards on takeoff

If the rotors and wheels would be done separately you wouldn't have to jump. Perhaps it could be linked to an altimeter? As soon as you pass threshold X going up or down it "toggles" the wheels

I think the remark was in the sense of: It would be way cooler if the wheels would actually rotate as well, they can serve as bumpers that way. To which I wholeheartedly agree

EldRick: care to share your diagnostic method? I'm curious to test it here too. Have had nearly no issues with the calculated value of 365. Only with white 123inkt.nl filament I've experienced slight overextrusion. Setting 98% material flow during printing works but that might just be the filament, as the rest is ok.
