Diagonal bridging issue on roller coaster track
burtoogle replied to coaster_llama's topic in UltiMaker Cura
I have modified my Cura to extend the bridge wall lines when they end above air. Here's the relevant layer from your model... I am just printing a sample of that and it looks OK so I will put this new capability into my next Cura release. You can find my releases at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/s43vqzmi4d2bqe2/AAADdYdSu9iwcKa0Knqgurm4a?dl=0 Please read the README.md file there for more info. -
Diagonal bridging issue on roller coaster track
burtoogle replied to coaster_llama's topic in UltiMaker Cura
BTW, an obvious simple tweak would be to make the bottom of that diagonal strut a little higher (say, a couple of layers thick) than the other struts that go NS and EW. That way, those NS, EW struts will already be there when the diagonal is started so its ends should attach OK. -

Hi, I worked on the Cura bridging and would like to help. Can you please attach that small model to this thread so I can play with it! Thanks. -
Issue with all spherical internal walls towards top
burtoogle replied to cloakfiend's topic in UltiMaker Cura
Ah, sorry, I didn't really understand your original request. Don't know how to achieve what you're asking. -
Support not working on really small items since 4.0.0

Great, looks like you've got that penny pretty well surrounded! -

BTW, using small values of max deviation with UM cura releases can give rough results. You may get better results using one of my releases that can be found at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/s43vqzmi4d2bqe2/AAADdYdSu9iwcKa0Knqgurm4a?dl=0 Please read the README.md file there for more info. Also, you may want to disable the overlap compensation as that tends to cause artifacts.

Looking at the mesh, you can see that there are holes in the top and bottom but they are not joined with "tubes". As the message says, the model is not watertight.
-
Thanks for the model, there's the problem, if you install the Cura mesh tools plugin you will get this warning yourself... The model is broken, it needs fixing.

Don't worry about the photos.

Hi, I have looked at the gcode in a viewer and it doesn't look lumpy-bumpy so I am guessing that the issue is not due to the gcode having poor coordinates (i.e. the corners are where they should be). UM Cura releases do have some bugs in the code that simplifies the wall polygons (the code that uses max resolution and max deviation) but I don't think that is causing your problem. What I think is more likely is that the settings that you are using combined with the path that Cura generates is causing the print head to "wobble", i.e. it's a mechanical issue brought on by how Cura is driving the printer. Do you have some sample gcode from another slicer for this part that doesn't produce the same variations in line positions?

Minimum support area setting too large? -
Hi @monkiki, it's hard to be sure without seeing your settings and model. Please do File -> Save and then attach the .3mf file to this thread. Thanks.

Hi @daaath, could you please also post the stderr.log file from the directory above where cura.log was found. Thanks. Also, if the stdout.log file is not empty, please post that also.

Linux PC freezes after cura appimage start (now REALLY solved)
burtoogle replied to anoxde's topic in UltiMaker Cura
Hi @anoxde, from your log files it appears to stop immediately after loading some Open GL shader files. It is not clear whether it hangs loading the last shader file or whether it managed that and then failed to report anything else. Assuming that the problem is related to the graphics system, it may be worth trying a reboot and seeing if that helps. Also, looking at some system log files (/var/log/syslog, /var/log/kernlog, etc.) may provide some hint. Hope this helps. -
Yes, but maybe that width is right on the threshold. If you very slightly reduce the wall line width, do all the walls get printed?
-
There is a print thin walls setting, make sure that is enabled.

Gradient infill now supported by experimental Cura builds
burtoogle posted a topic in UltiMaker Cura
People kept badgering me to add this feature (https://www.cnckitchen.com/blog/gradient-infill-for-3d-prints) but I'm not yet convinced it's a good idea. Anyway, it's been a rainy weekend here so I had to do something. Here's an example of what it does... Notice how the infill that's away from the walls is thinner than the infill that's close to the walls. If you want to try it, you can find the builds at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/s43vqzmi4d2bqe2/AAADdYdSu9iwcKa0Knqgurm4a?dl=0 Please, please, please, read the README.md file that's there before using any of my builds and do make backups of your configurations, profiles, project files, etc. before you try it out. All feedback is welcome, either here or at https://github.com/smartavionics/Cura/issues -
The fix (https://github.com/Ultimaker/CuraEngine/pull/1094) is still waiting for the UM devs to decide whether they want it or not.

Maybe the seam corner preference setting is having an effect if it is not set to none.
