Makerfaire NYC 2014!!

Recommended Posts

Do you guys have cell phones? I love meeting people there - you can text me when you find the Ultimaker booth and I'll run over to meet you.

Interesting! I might try to go

Don't try. Do it. It's amazing. They had about 70,000 people last year. 70,000. I don't know if you can imagine how many people that is. And it wasn't too crowded. This thing is quite large. 70000!

Here's another video teaser - much longer but more details. Pretty much anything that was in 2012 makerfaire came back for 2013 and will probably be there this year also. You can look up which exhibitors are planning to show up.

Though I haven't heard the rumor, I was thinking TWO things to be exact :D

I have seen Daid being quite busy working on Pink Unicorn. However, I think it's not realistic to expect the new Cura for the MF.

Realistic answering times of the (Europe based) support would be a nice announcement.

I'm also not so sure they will show the UM2 dual extrusion.

I'm not saying anything else (because I like mystery) but do not expect UM2 dual-extrusion. Sorry. But I hate to give off false-hopes in this aspect.

I had the impression in the past that you also like teasing... ;)

So, the heated UM1 bed kit can be taken for sure, I guess. And I could imagine that it is a good moment to switch from the old electronics to the Ultimainboard 2.x.

There might also be something Youmagine-related... and maybe something for connectivity... (remember that the Ultimaker website says something about WiFi-ready for the UM2? However, this would mean Daid kept the development unusually secret... B) )

I'm actually pretty good at that. Sure, I'm not silent about everything, but there is stuff cooking that I have and will not say a word about.

If that gives us up to date secret info over what is going on I can get behind that. Lets start a Daid cookie fund (although Sander seems bribe-able as well :p).

    • Ultimaker Cura | a new interface
We're not only trying to always make Ultimaker Cura better with the usual new features and improvements we build, but we're also trying to make it more pleasant to operate. The interface was the focus for the upcoming release, from which we would already like to present you the first glance.

    • "Back To The Future" using Generative Design & Investment Casting
Designing for light-weight parts is becoming more important, and I’m a firm believer in the need to produce lighter weight, less over-engineered parts for the future. This is for sustainability reasons because we need to be using less raw materials and, in things like transportation, it impacts the energy usage of the product during it’s service life.
