  1. Me too... Sometimes I get great results, sometimes complete mess... Hope that the development on UM2 also affects the things with UM1 - at least from Cura and firmware side...
  2. Amsterdam sounds great... never have been there but heared a lot of interesting rumors  B.T.W: do we have to come also in UM-related costumes like @ ComiCon??
  3. :-) ha, shapeways... no, I have the best machine ever at home :-) don´t underestimate "highly personalized and build with blood&sweat and lot of effort" made things.. I think, my GF would like it (as an intermediate solution - of course :-) ) I think, Markus shall post a detailed "how to" / "ring101" to assist in understanding the polishing procedure - isn´t... @Markus - please... imagine, somebody´s future might depend on this...
  4. @ skint - same issue at my home front... :-) But I guess such a unique handmade ring might be a suitable solution
  5. Damn, Daid, is this a revenge? did Gru destroyed your first fluffy unicorn :-) Sorry... Cant withstand.. :-) Design looks great!!!!
  6. Ok, so just to sumarize: - HB from Jason - Solid state relais - PID mode in firmware with autotune option As soon as I'm back home, I will take a close look :-)
  7. Thank you very much for this detailed explaination!! Now its clear :-)
  8. Hmmm... How you connect the 3rd head to the UM elecrically??? I would just copy the start2 and modify it by myself...
  9. Thank you very much for final clarification. Now I got it. I will stay with the relays I bought. Nevertheless, a linear current regulation would be a nice feature... :-)
  10. Ok, looks like an interresting solution, nevertheless, I've not understood it I fear... What I lerned now, PID is more or less a very fast bangbang via e.g. a MosFET or a solid state - isnt? So no slow current increase/decrease?
  11. Währe schön - stattdessen sitz ich in Wien in nem Fortbildungsseminar... :-( Allen, die es hin schaffen VIEL SPASS UND BITTE BERICHTE,Berichte, Berichte hier im Forum... Lg
  12. @ jonny, maybe youre remember - I'm basically a mechanical guy having no clue about the electronics... :-) Nevertheless, in my former job we used a thyristor bridge to increase/decrease/controll current introduced into a coil (eddy current dynamometer). Therefore I thought it might be the thing for controlling the heated bed instead of the bangbang full-on/off methode...
  13. Guys, just a few small side questions regarding bed wiring: Instead of using the relais, there shall be the possibility to use a thyristor to change from bangbang to PID - correct? Has somebody experience with? How would this work and which parts/FW changes would be necessarry?? Any hint appreciated!
:-( @ csdragon: was verstehst du unter "reichlich" ??
  15. GREAT!!! And the right place for polishing :-) Would be great to have a possibility to get samples... Is there a way??
  16. Ok, sorry, my mistake - I ment some sort of a gate where the feeder is fixed/mounted in the center... (so no moving gantry)
  17. If the whole machine is bigger, what would hinder to place the feeder app. 400mm in the middle above the UM on a gantry, pointing down. So no ~180° bend for the bowden is needed, nearly straight line so less problems with retraction lag... Yust my two cents... :-)
  18. :-) Brute force... yes, that´s right... sometimes needed... Reg. the triangular shape mentioned by Burki, I thought also some time ago about a simple but (using "brute force") effective steel wire with a tensioning screw to be placed from one of the top screws of the arm diagonal down to one of the screws on the L bringing some tention into it.... and then I realized that there is a moving head/fan shroud which would give a nice crash... :-( @ Jonny, the steel plate idea is good, but I would add a bit "stiffness" in the middle of the table part...
  19. My intention was to get the stage stiffer from bending as simple as possible with no additional parts. So to mount you just have to - press-fit the two bearings from top - mount the other parts should fit as they are currently mounted Anyway - as it might be difficult in my workshop to produce the holes for the bearings accordingly, the second approach is to make additional holes from the side and use a nail e.g. to fix them in the horizontal position. B.t.w. another possibility: wait for the release of the original UM heated bed and hope that they also included a fix for the table...
  20. Great! here is a first draft I did a while ago. Idea is to just exchange the side arms and keep the other ply stuff as you can see in the rendering. The Alu arms have slots as it is difficult to manufacture the pockets for the stage. I have to generate the dimmensional drawings and will post them soon :-)
  21. Hey lucky guy, my girlfried would act like a tornado in texas when comming back with a mobile number... Think that's irish luck :-)
  22. Guys, on my CAD there are some unfinished drawings of aluminum arms with better embeddind of the bearings. I've not manufactured nor tested them up to now but if you're interested I would post them...
  23. Great to hear Ian!! Congratulation!!! Compared to this news my day was boring - but for me great too :-) Had the chance to approve the black belt degree of two guys and also the 2nd black belt degree of one of my friends - we had an exam today in our martial arts dojo. Next two days will be nice too as we will have training classes, an evening event and competitions this weekend. Nevertheless, I'm really proud of my friend... :-)
