  1. Aaahhh.... great idea... With the use of PBI yo on the same track than me, but I'd like to apply the PBI parts to my beloved UMO :-) My first thought was just to replace the PEEK and PTFE parts with PBI, but I also think it is not worth the invest...
  2. @MTG, PEEK is an integral part of the UMO hotend, but in combnation with a brass tube as it is sticky, and just a small PTFE coupler. The UM2 has a different design. BUT: What exactly would you like to do?
  3. Played aroud a bit with a combination of 2 40x40mm low noise fans from PC modding and also similar sized blowers, but up to now I can´t find something silent with enough airflow and reliable. You can find a few attempts on Youmagine or Thingiverse but I fear (from my perspective), the one in is well greased the best of the bad...
  4. Sure :-) Made by Dim3nsioneer, working perfectly to select the extruder which you'd like to print with. More infos here: https://github.com/Dim3nsioneer/Cura-Plugins/wiki/Select-Extruder-plugin Would be great to have it working also for the new Cura...
  5. Correct Not at the moment. We are planning to enable the possibility for one at a time dual at some point, but it proved to be a tricky issue to tackle and had to make tough choices at some point. One at a time dual was one of the victims. A work around is to change the machine definition files (If only one extruder is used, it should work perfectly, but the setting visibility has no notion of what extruders are actually used at the moment) Thanks for clarification! so I will add an additional printer... b.t.w. what about reactivating the "change extruder" post processing plugin ?
  6. Take a look here - thanks to Gudo for the link... http://www.plasticstockist.com/Duratron-PBI.aspx 19.05mm Celazole Pbi Rod,305mm Length, Duratron Pbi Rod €245.64 ex. VAT & Shipping
  7. Ok, so if my UMO is set up as dual extrusion, it is not possible to select "one at a time" as it always is related to the dual setup in my json... Is there a way to select something like a "non" material on the second extruder or is the only workaround to add an additional printer with only one extruder...? How is it possible to select the second extruder as e.g. it is loaded with a different colored material to perform a "one at a time" print with it before unloading the first extruder...? (often do this as my first extruder is always loaded with black PLA) I know, many questions, but maybe @nallath could give a hint?
  8. One meter?? Whow... You can order it in UK but please note that it is available in 305mm rods which costs app. 350€ incl. tax and shipping... Also thinking of ordering but my financial officer ( ) said "no"... (up to now)....
  9. Come over and I show you :-) (ok, not perfect, but working... more or less...)
  10. ... good question... @nallath, any hit?
  11. Thanks for this insight and thanks for spending your time to write this articles :-)
  12. @SandervG curiouse about it so is there already a timeline defined for publishing the UM3 details (assume at GitHub)?
  13. b.t.w. - if I calculated it correctly... If I would change the heater block and install a UM2-style (4mm diameter) heater cartridge on an 18V UMO (which normally uses a 6mm one), I would need around 70W @ 24V cartridge to get ~40W at 18V... Has anybody found something like this somewhere??
  14. THANKS Great - but I guess, shipping from NZ to Austria will cost a fortune and takes forever... :-)
  15. Great insight - thanks! Now, upgradeability discussions are basically stopped I guess :-) Nevertheless, more Infos about the print core would be great. How is it built, how is the nozzle shape inside, comparison between AA and BB and the UMO /UM2 /Olsonn nozzle designs, dimensions,... and so on... Maybe next time?? :-)
  16. Sorry guys, I think there will be no sensefull outcome of this discussion (and a few other discussions in the forum) any more... I just will add now my two cents to get my frustration out of my mind, and then will stop thinking about (hopefully)... Sure, parts can be sources somewhere around the world, hacked together by somebody with 2 cents hourly rate and - of couse far below 12 years old... Nevertheless, something called "inventive work" has also it´s right and know how is expensive - and those who don´t have it pay for it... that´s the world guys... So I try to put simple: the guys from Ultimaker had the effort of development, putting hours of their employees into something inventive - and of course, they need to get paied for it... and then, of course every bit and byte - and spare part - need to have a price tag PLUS some overhead cost which enables them to go forward and pay their bills and develop something new on top... Honestly - buy cheap stuff somewhere in China or elsewhere - best something your local metal workers, farmers or textile manufactors or - better - the company you work for is producing. At least you will loose your jobs as nobody will buy something "expensive" from you and your company has to close down... And this is the reason why the prices from UM are ok... because they have the KNOW HOW and the ABILITY and the WILL to engineer their great stuff in The Netherlands (and hopefully pay their guys very good as earn it...)... So finally, I also think that a UM3 upgrade kit would cost a lot and need a lot of effort to implement it correctly (CE certified, safe, monkeyproof) and that´s the reason why it´s simply not feasible or sensefull - at least from a business point of view... So, now my mind is free of frustration - thanks for reading and hopefully I ignited the plug at somebody re-thinking his opinion...
  17. I dont. ask santa, - I asked my wife... bad idea... but some guys in my company want to buy a new printer to kick out the f*** makerbot. unfortunately I'm not sure how to convince them...
  18. That 35mm difference is the spacing between the nozzles. As to actually filling the advertised build area? You can't, just as on the Ultimaker 2. Aahhh... 35mm - so a little bit more than the space at UMO or UM2. So assume the whole head is also bigger... Thanks for the hint.
  19. :-) Not by Friday? Damn... and I thought the weekend is safe and I have to get again my wife out of the house for party... ;-) Great to have you back, Daid - missed you too...
