Print in progress....

New UM2 random under extrusion problem
personal-drones replied to tyscof's topic in UltiMaker 3D printers
Try to slow down to 30 mm/s and see if it gets better. Are you using Cura? -

Ciao Sam e ciao a tutti.

-
Are you looking for something like this, one of the two?
-

OK looks like the day of my life finally came, in which I am waiting for a pink unicorn. Thank you Ultimaker

I have a recurring problem in using Cura on Mac. Currently using the last version 15.02.1, but the same happened with version 14.2. Sometimes (quite often actually) Cura goes into a state in which I cannot use the dropdown menus for supports and platform adhesion. If I click on the menus, they won't drop down. I noticed that in this state if I mouseover on the various fields of the interface of "Basic settings", I will not see the yellow tooltips with the explanations on the field either. When this happens, I have to restart the Mac to have Cura working again. Quitting and relaunching will not fix it. It is somewhat annoying. Did someone else noticed that? Anyway this can be looked at? I am using an iMac with Yosemite 10.10.2. EDIT: if I open Cura by clicking on the program icon in the tray, it will work fine. If instead I open the stl file directly (which will start cura), then I have the weird unresponsive state. Just realized that. So for now I will just start cura and then import model, instead of opening the stl file directly

Maybe it's worth pointing out that if you really need to go up to 240 to get over the underextrusion issue, something is to be adjusted anyway, as, as gr5 pointed out, your teflon coupler will not last long. I had to change mine after 300 hours of PLA printing at 210-220°C, so 500 hours at 240 is a very optimistic estimate imho. It could be that you need a good atomic cleaning (nozzle partly clogged)? Or that the teflon isolator is already gone (but the printer is new correct?) Or that this specific filament has problems? That despite all, the bed is still not perfectly leveled? Not sure what it is, but I hope the solution will not be to print PLA at 240°C. This has many issues beyond the teflon coupler thing, such as bad overhangs, oozing, surface problems etc.. Ideally you should be able to print well from 200°C up to 230° (my very max for PLA) with no problems, if you select the correct speeds in cura.
