A picture says more than 1000 words, so here it is : I noticed my extrusion is not the fine line as it used to be. Does anybody know what's the reason for this? I'm using an UM2+ ext. cheers
-
Add the functionality so we can control our UM2+ with the app, that would make the app really useful. As for now I don't see why I should use it instead of my macbook...

random scratches on model
frederiekpascal replied to frederiekpascal's topic in Improve your 3D prints
The print of the black statue took about 14 hours, so I tweaked some of my settings like @Neotko suggested, and I reduced the print speed to 25 mm/s like @gr5 mentioned. The new print took about 51 hours (!!) but it came out like a charm. Always exciting those long prints imo. Very impressive quality. It weighs 400 grams, because the infill is 24%. Thanks for the tips guys! This statue will look awesome on my desk. -
That's a very nice find @Neotko !

Thanks @Neotko ! Do you know what's the max Z-axis speed for the UM2? Cause I know travel is 300 but I don't seem to find the max Z axis speed... (I have it at 20 mm/s fyi) -

Hey, I have coasting distance on 0.5mm right now and wipe nozzle on 3.0mm So turn these settings a bit up? minimal travel for retraction is on 0.5mm force retraction between layers and perform retraction during wipe were already both enabled The model is not hollow, it has an infill of 15%. Thanks -
hello people, I've seen random scratches on the models I've been printing in the past few days. Here's a picture of the result : I'm using Simply3D fyi. Thnx for the tips!

Yep, €4.80 shipping for 1 spool. You better buy 2 spools imo, free shipping above €75 -
hello all, Trideus is selling 2.2 kg PLA for only 45 euros. http://www.trideus.be/nl/filament/ice-filaments/pla/ That's a very nice price! I've used several 100s of meters of their PLA with great succes. cheers

Hello all, I bought myself some big Colorfabb PLA spools (2.2kg) to use with my UM2+ ext. But putting the spool on whatever spool holder you use, gives you this result : You can use filament guides and other tricks but they all will cause friction. There is no way to get the filament directly in the filament feeder without guiding it around. (and causing friction) So I worked together with Andreas from www.3dprinterstore24.de That's the one that came up with the doors and top covers for our Ultimaker I'm thankfully using every day. (here's a link to an old forum thread with pics of the cover and door) Anyway, we came up with a great solution for every day use of big spools. I know you can put them on the ground etc etc but those are all no options for me because I have dogs that run around the house all day. This big spool holder uses 4 bearings to cause minimal friction. I personally LOVE IT. Here are pictures of the prototype I'm using. this is the prototype : I thought I'd share this with you people cause I'm probably not the only one using big spools. cheers Frederiek
