  1. They changed the fans to Sunon ones. You can buy the rear fan from ebay through this link. It's only the rear fan that is so noisy and cheerping. It really makes your UM2 much more silent, trust me
  2. Don't count on buying the new shroud separately in the beginning. Check page 5 of this thread as @SandervG mentioned :
  3. This is the default material.txt from my um2+ [material]name=PLAtemperature=210temperature_210temperature_195temperature_230temperature_240temperature_240bed_temperature=60fan_speed=100flow=100diameter=2.85[material]name=ABStemperature=260temperature_260temperature_260temperature_260temperature_260temperature_260bed_temperature=90fan_speed=100flow=107diameter=2.85[material]name=CPEtemperature=255temperature_255temperature_255temperature_255temperature_255temperature_255bed_temperature=60fan_speed=50flow=100diameter=2.85
  4. I'm using S3D with my UM2+ extended with great success. You can download my FFF profile here. When you want to use this profile with an UM2+, make sure you adjust the build volume of the Z-axis to 205mm instead of the current 305mm. I follow @Neotko that it's a lot safer to start with Cura with you UM2+. good luck!
  5. Confirmed, the plus edition of the UM2 is awesome. This is a print of 15 hours with zero post processing. Amazing results, you have to take a very very close look to see the layers of this print. Back to Simplify3D (it just gives me more options to tweak compared to Cura) and printed 0.1 layer height, 45mm/s retraction speed, 40 mm/s print speed, 250 mm/s travel speed, 1.2 mm shell thickness, 5% infill, 205°C extruder, 65°C print bed
  6. https://www.youmagine.com/designs/quick-temperature-fillament-test There is an STL but also gcodes to download directly. Newbie question....what is the difference from gcode and stl? STL is your 3D object (it's the extension of the file also) and Gcode is the output from your slicer. (Cura, S3D, ...) Gcode contains the information for your printer, what temperature to use, speed, coordinates for you axes, ... (you can open a .gcode file with a texteditor to take a closer look at the file) Other obje

  8. Very interesting article indeed, thanks for sharing! Please add wifi printing and an app to remotely control the printer A build-in HD cam would be great to create timelapse movies!
  9. sure I can, this is Arjan's testfile : https://www.dropbox.com/s/fw9i7ui8diin9ub/Test5_UltiArjan.stl?dl=0 and this is the overhang test : https://www.dropbox.com/s/9hphzvmgmogszmu/overhang_test_half.stl?dl=0
  10. There is already a Safari 9.0.2, do you mind upgrading and testing? And for you mac OS there are already a few huge updates You are still using Yosemite while El Capitan is out for a while already. (10.11.2 is the current version)
  11. And I live close to Antwerp and this is how my garden looks like today
  12. The overhang test gave me very nice results. It's a shame I didn't keep the print of the overhang test with my previous UM2. Because that would make a nice comparison... I do remember I started to have problems with the 45° and now with the + even the 55° still looks nice imo. I'm quite impressed with this machine, the UM2+ is an even more plug&play device Now a more complex object (of 15 hours) is printing with my super-tweaked S3D profile (thnx again @Neotko ! ). Keep you posted about the dragon print.
  13. Update, I asked for the shipping cost to Belgium. Right now we are shipping to Belgium via Air. The Desktop units cost around $300/$400, the FreeStand, being twice the size, and weight, cost around $700/$800. Very expensive shipping omg
  14. With my um2+ there was a silver spool of UM PLA included. It was a spool of a new batch of PLA (new label on the spool etc) and I have lots of success with this UM PLA now.... The problem now is, dealers will try to sell their old stock of UM PLA first and that's PLA we don't want I still prefer Colorfabb PLA/PHA for now though
  15. Good tip, thanks @Nicolinux ! I used to turn my previous UM2 off right after the print because the rear fan was cheerping like crazy, but the um2+ has a Sunon fan which is noticeable more silent, so I'll keep it on after printing.
  16. Settings were 0.1 layer height, 200 mm/s travel speed, 35mm/s retraction, 30 mm/s print speed, 195C° hot-end temp, Ultimaker Silver PLA (definitely a new batch of their PLA! ), fan speed from 0% (layer 1) slowly up to 100% at layer 95.
  17. So true, I switched back to S3D and adjusted some more settings and tried @UltiArjan 's calibration print and it came out quite amazing. Check out the pictures, don't mind the leaning side because I pulled it of while it was still hot. (too excited etc ) Imo a major major improvement to my previous UM2. Good job Ultimaker with making your 3D printer even better!
  18. Adjusted some settings and the 2nd test print is much better
  19. where is the option to turn off the ghost notifications?
  20. hello all, I'm one of the lucky people who received his UM2+ extended already. I live in Belgium that's why I got it already. My first impression of the machine was "wow, if this machine could stay as silent as now for a while = awesome". There really is a huge difference of noise with the new fan shroud. I would say, the rear fan is 80% more silent. I like! What surprised me a bit was the tools that were included in the nozzle box : I looked in the box and couldn't find this useful tool to switch nozzles : You gotta use this thing... Imo, people will break their Olsson block because they don't know how much force they have to use when they screw their new nozzle on. Especially when it's a used nozzle with filament residues sticking to the thread of the nozzle. Yep that's a very small detail cause you can buy that metal tool thing for a euro in almost every handy-shop. For the rest only positive feedback about my new precious. I love it! Pre-installed Olsson block, new feeder, new fan shroud are all awesome improvements for an already great 3D printer. first small test print : I'm very happy with my new beast! I'll keep you posted!
  21. 99% sure it's sold already, i'll keep you posted though Anyway, UM2+ extended is installed! jeuj!
  22. Very intersting ! Thank you very much, it seems very promising. I just hope it won't take 2 months to ship Thanks again, we're looking into that solution The big one is huge btw : Height 960mm, Width 880mm, Depth: 880mm I wonder how much it reduces of the noise... Keep us posted if you buy it @smenguy because I'm interested too.
