  1. You can add: M104 S{print_temperature} M190 S{print_bed_temperature} M109 S{print_temperature} To the start code, and get the behaviour you want. And it will no longer add the own temperture commands as it sees you have the proper tags in the start code. Why this is not default? Well, because not everyone has a heated bed or uses a heated bed, at which point the M190 commands do not need to be added or the printer will hang on that. (Yes, there is logic to the mess, really)
  2. It is possible to print with UM1 settings (You'll get a warning that the settings in the machine will be ignored) And I think it's related to the "minimal extrusion amount", this setting is added to prevent a lot of retraction on a small piece of filament, but it might act a bit different on the UM1 then the UM2 settings.
  3. The SD-card read error is a problem noticed on some more printers we are running tests on right now (It slipped trough the initial testing phase). It seems to happen on some, but not all of the printers. When it is happening, it seems to be about 1 every 5 to 10 prints. There will be a firmware update soon that fixes it, we are running the final tests on it on the printers that showed the problem, but it's looking very good.
  4. Could you try if you remove the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cura_13.10\python\DLLs\vidcap.pyd" And if the window shows up properly after that? (This disables webcam support, which is the only thing I can think off that can cause a real issue here) Note, 12.11 is quite a few versions back from 13.10, How do the other versions between 12.11 and 13.10 act? The versions can be downloaded from http://software.ultimaker.com/?show=all and run side-by-side on windows.
  5. Sounds inprobable, but I did had a bug that disabled retraction after the first object in 13.06. So everything is possible really. Can you check the final GCode for M107 (turn fan off) and M106 (turn fan on) commands? It should have a turn off at the first layer, and a turn on at the 2nd. (The first layer is printed with the fan off to make it stick better)
  6. I wished I could give good news, but from what I've heard (just speculation, no final answer from me!) the amount of incoming orders is around or bigger then the production capacity, and they are scaling up production right now. Good for us, however, not so good for the lead-time.
  7. But, the version numbers are just year.month I was kinda seriously considering changing it to fancy names. But I suck at names.
  8. 260C is the safe limit for the teflon in there. If you want higher temperatures you need to compile the firmware yourself, and you'll most likely risk damaging the teflon. (I have heated up a printer to 500C, which it survived with minor damage, but that was a safety test to make sure your house dose not burn down)
  9. Yes, will be easy. Put printer near computer. Connect printer to computer with USB cable. Start up Cura. Choose "install default Marlin firmware" from the "Machine" menu, watch the magic happen.
  10. Ok, this is crazy, and it should not have arrived in a state like that. It's not slightly damaged, but heavy damaged. I'm forwarding this to both support and logistics. I'm sure you get a proper response ASAP.

You can save as STL just fine... I use it quite often, make sure to add the extension yourself when saving.
  12. Right now, Cura uses the start.gcode for prints with 1 color, and start2.gcode for dual color prints. For prints with dual-extrusion-support-material it uses start.gcode which is a bug. (fixing it right now)
  13. That's the proper path, but you need to have the file with the proper contents so it is detected as a plugin.
  14. You could install this fix yourself. But I will release a new Cura update with new firmware soon. And then you can install this firmware with the "Install default firmware" in Cura. There are some minor bugs in Cura and the firmware that need fixing. This being one of them.
  15. Is retraction enabled in Cura? I noticed a bug friday where retraction is not enabled if you select the UM2.
  16. The customized temperature is used during the filament change. The 280C is indeed an oversight, good catch!
  17. Yes. Ultimaker should, and is working hard to add the best people possible to the support team. But that's not the job of "Ultimaker R&D", we concentrate on Research & Development. A few things. "UM1 heated-bed upgrade with single PSU" most likely ain't going to happen. The UM1 electronics have a design flaw which makes it unneeded complex, and a single PSU solution would add significantly more cost then a dual PSU solution due to the price of high current PSUs (next to that you would throw away the money for the PSU you already have). This does not rule out a heated bed upgrade, but don't expect one with just 1 PSU. There are lots of software suggestions that I spot. I hope to announce soon that we have a 2nd software developer. But that ain't 100% certain until he has signed his contract. Now, about the roadmap process. For the past few days, we've been writing down all ideas on a few big sheets of paper in our office. Lots of suggestions from here have made it on there. (And a few more, like a gigantic robotic spider) On monday we'll have our first meeting about the roadmap. At this meeting we'll select the ideas from the list that we think are important and doable for R&D with our current team. Both short and long term goals. However, R&D does not have the full say in this, so after that (unsure on the date), another meeting is held with the heads of the company, to set the final roadmap and plans for R&D. I'll do my best to keep you informed, but realistically I cannot share everything we are doing. As there will be things that we want to keep secret.
  18. It's not put online yet, but most likely it will be. (It was a bit of a stress job to get it finished, reviewed, and printed before shipping the first printers) The manual contains all details from unpacking your printer, to setting it up, to installing the software and doing your first print. Cura is only a part of that (an important part, but only a part)
  19. Sounds like an issue with the mechanical end stops, in the backleft top of the machine there are 2 switches with red and blue wires. If you press those, do they still click? This could happen if they are permenently "fixed" to closed.
  20. The fan is usually on the left side, not on the right (as by the assembly instructions), you can adjust the head size in the machine settings to change this. (swap the Xmin/Xmax head size settings)

He wants the joris mode back. But he likes the rest of 13.10. (solid top/bottom are still in the expert settings)
  22. Tracking numbers get emailed once we add them to the package, however, they are available from the moment the package is entered in the system at DHL. It's not usual for this to take a day or so. (If you order a lot from the internet you'll notice this is quite common. I also get tracking numbers from china that never seem to work...)
  23. The best tool depends on the job and what you are used to. But SketchUp isn't the best tool for 3D printing, it's one of the worse actually, as it has a tendency to add internal faces and holes around the model. I'm playing around a bit in SpaceClaim, which I really like. And most likely cheaper then AutoCAD (still expensive tough)
