  1. You can do it, but you really have to make sure it sticks well to the bed, this was one of the first prints I did a few years ago
  2. Dutch 3D printer manufacturer Ultimaker announces today the appointment of co-founder Siert Wijnia as the new CEO of Ultimaker B.V effective March 28, 2014. Co-founders Martijn Elserman and Erik de Bruijn will take on supporting roles responsible for the Ultimaker Experience and Evangelizing 3D printing respectively. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20140329-ultimaker-announces-new-ceo.html
  3. The piece on top of the spool is natural PLA I made parts with, en definitely a different color the your Natural PLA, I ordered on the presumption that I would get the color PLA like on the site image Natural PLA to me is almost white and semi transparent, and most filament suppliers have this, and not looking cream colored. The PLA has a "MAR 20 2014" date I already had several email contact about this "Natural" PLA, but support is adamant that this is the colorfabb Natural PLA, and it should look like this, and that example images, I sent of the natural PLA, is not Natural PLA but XT ! Ask Sander. And support not getting the fact that the image on the site is not the same as the color you get ! I just gave up, as I do not have the willpower to keep on trying to convince support that I am not happy with what I received, and what I thought I would receive.
  4. (Disclaimer, this is not a post to bash Colorfabb, I really like their products and have ordered a lot from them) I have ordered PLA from several vendors and never had real problems with the color I receive compared on what the website shows. I recently ordered some Natural PLA on the Colorfabb site that looked almost white, but what I received was way more darker then the image on the site. is there a color difference to be expected and am I to picky ? what is your experience. What is on the site: and what I received:
  5. Ha , no I gave a kidney to my mother, she has now three
  6. I am still recovering from a Kidney transplant (for my mother, 2 years ago), that went horribly wrong, and yesterday I realised that, while my body is recovering, I still have some psychological issues :( that explains my outbursts on the forum a bit, sorry about that
  7. Thanks I'll try that tomorrow Tried it tonight, and it did not work, Cura went through the new setup as expected, but pressing certain buttons just won't react, even opening the expert panel does nothing, until I open a new document, or cancel a print, then suddenly all the menus appear that I pressed, even several times the same menu  I made a new user on Mavericks, and there Cura seems to work normal, so usually a program that was installed last is the culprit, and the only one I've installed was Cura 14.03 (the irony)
  8. After a unfortunate experience with Cura 14.03, I uninstalled Cura, and went back to 14.02, but now Cura 14.02 does not function properly, menu buttons take ages to activate, and it runs heavy on the processor when doing minute things. I tried uninstalling everything and reinstall Cura, but I keep having the same problems, How do I remove every little bit of bytes from OSX, so I can freshly install Cura 14.02 ?
  9. <-- me crying in a corner, clutching my now obsolete Ultimaker 1
  10. To me, that should have been done before the release, it's like opening a library without having any books. I don't like to swear, but I feel it was the only way to show my frustration and get your attention ! after waiting a long time for decent support options, I still can't use it, now I have to slice with one version of Cura and print with the other version, it's a bit stupid unnecessary. just because you don't really use certain parts of Cura yourself, doesn't mean you can just throw it out on a whim, that sounds like you don't know your users or even worse, don't care ? or is it just the pressure of having to update regularly, and feel the need to have to make changes ? I'll wait patiently until Cura is usable again  Tell me honestly, do you think this is a nice look of a printer menu ?
  11. Please show me where in the menus this "Tune" menu is ? or the "Maintenance" ?
  12. I have a UM1, and it was made to control via USB ! It is important for me to remote control the UM1, as I do now with my Mac, learning G-code is a pretty big effort for me, and I just don't have the time. and no I am not going to spend € 96,- for a Ulticontroller (80+ shipping) I would still not be able to control the UM remotely with that. is it really to much to ask, that the so called improvements to Cura wouldn't make the software more complex and for me unusable ? Cura is more like Microsoft now :(
  13. Sure, I'd love to spend €96,- to use Cura 14.03 and how do I control my UM remotely, like I do now with my Mac Mini ? spend another €100,- for a Raspberry Pie ? perfect :(
  14. Yup, I want to use the new Cura 14.03, but due to the brilliant design, the print menu is lacking a bit of information. I would really like a menu with: temperature control, so I can manually preheat and change my filament when I want. A pause button. Extrude and retract button. please somebody help me
  15. Ha !, found my own answer and yes it's been F*cked, up ! http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/4864-jog-and-homing/ F*ck it, I'll go back to the old version, with the super duper crappy support material...[whiny voice] THANKS DAID.
  16. Well thanks Daid, you made a very easy to use print menu into a "if you want it you have to (learn how to) and construct it" yourself. sorry but that to me is F**cked up !! at least give, instead of the empty menu, a full menu where you can choose to remove items you don't want, not the other way around ! I don't want to spend the time learning to make my own menu, I already have trouble working with g-code, for you it is second nature for me it's a large effort :( F*ck it, i'll go back to the old version, with the super duper crappy support material...[whiny voice] THANKS DAID.
  17. Yep same question, but for the UM1 how the heck do I set the temperature now in the forced proterface screen ? I like to set temperatures by hand, before printing, so I can exchange my filament if needed, now....nothing ? please explain why I have to use Pronterface menu instead of the Cura menu ? it says in Cura if you set temp to 0, you can pre-heat manually, so...where is this pre-heat knob ?
  18. Just tried Cura 14.03, and everything seems to work untill I press the print button, the normal print dialog screen does not work properly, and I can only see a print button and nothing else, no temp graph, buttons to control the UM..nothing restarted Cura and still the same problem. I went back to 14.01 and that works normal again.
  19. Came across this posting on the Google-groups from Andrew Caird, and I think some UM1 users would also find this interesting: I ordered one, and can't wait to see if it works
  20. Then this is not such a good ABS replacement :-| the worst thing about PLA is that if you print something to hold or support something, it will bend after a while, even at summer room temperature. I'd rather see a PLA like printable material with higher temperature resistance like ABS.
  21. But does it also deform, on a hot sunny day, like PLA ?
