Deze ondersteunde assen heb ik gewoon besteld via ebay. een Chinese shop, deze werken prima, maar de glijders iets minder, deze zijn te goedkoop en bevattelijk voor rommel tussen de lagers, en wil ik die anders gaan doen, of duurdere/betere lagers kopen. ook heb ik cross bars aan de zijkanten moeten plaatsen wegens de resonantie tijdens het printen.

Als je een UM1 hebt, kan je nog via Cura zien wat deze aan het printen is, niet exact per layer, maar wel ongeveer waar je zit in de tekening. en is er ook een plugin waarmee je tijdens de print kan pauzeren, ik heb deze gebruikt bv voor koelkast magneten In cad is het gemakkelijk om in layers de implantaat en insert apart aan te geven, en kan je selectief het te printen deel saven als STL, zo maak ik mijn iPhone hoesjes, aan de hand van een standaard iPhone tekening, waar ik de hoes omheen teken, of met bolean verwijder. en alle ideeën die jij verzint en oplost kan weer een toevoeging zijn voor latere hardware en software

Zo ver zijn ze nog niet met de software, maar ik ben er van overtuigd dat we die kant op gaan, om een optimale consumenten printer te maken. En zoals UltiArjan zegt, je moet zelf ook wel een beetje technisch inzicht hebben om de print er goed uit te krijgen (bij de complexere objecten) maar dat is iets wat je leert tijdens het printen, als ik nu terug kijk op mijn eerste jaar met de UM1, ben ik verbaasd van mezelf wat ik voor fouten in het begin gemaakt heb Cura maakt het printen heel gebruiksvriendelijk, en kan je veel spelen met instellingen jammer vindt ik wel dat er veel variabelen zijn die invloed hebben om een specifiek printjob te doen slagen, en een slimmer software/hardware pakket zou dan wel prettig zijn, maar wij als prosumers zijn op dit moment de testers van het uiteindelijke consumenten 3D printen tijdperk, en dat nog een tijdje gaat duren

Ik heb zelf mijn UM naar 400mm hoogte omgebouwd, Ik moest wel wat aanpassingen doen, vanwege trillingen.

Fancy setup and a great way of thinking for using an Ultimaker, did you buy the UM just for this project ? some more pics would be nice.

Love this review, they really took the time to use the machines. and wow the Makerbot gets slaughtered, it's more hype then printer :lol:

It's always the dilemma, buy now or wait for the next upgrade...or the next...or the next. the UM2 is a solid machine and will go a long way, look at the "old" UM1, it recently had a major upgrade, and I still see the UM1 as the better printer for the tinkerer

Je zou er een siliconen-mal ervan kunnen maken, dan kan je een kap maken per 20 min, en kan je zelfs alle kleuren maken die je kan bedenken

When I planned for the higher z-stage I planned to reuse as much of the original Ultimaker as possible, I still have not decided exactly what size I will build. It seems wise to use multiples of the standard width of the Ultimaker build size, so I can maybe use multiples of heated beds I'll probably move the feeder to middle at the back so I can still use the stock bowden tube,

The rails work great, as long as no pollution gets in the way. I used cheap Chinese ones, and the smoothness gets wobly after some dirt gets in the way, I really want to replace those with better quality and more closed against dirt.

My UM+ is 20 X 20 X 400 cm I enlarged it for a special project, I am now considering to rebuild it again with a wider built volume, for another project, some changes I made then were not working as good as I hoped The biggest changes I will make is better construction material, and more guided support for the z-platform

I was hoping to share the parts of the kit, and just use the heated bed parts, but as the leadscrew is an integral part of the hardware and software upgrade, I will have to buy the complete set and just use what I need. And I will have to buy a second leadscrew for the height I need. Thanks for the info guys

you're saying, they cant be separated to put a longer version on it ?

I see the UM1 heated bed upgrade uses a new leadscrew (um2 ?) but I changed my UM1 into an UM+ with double the height. I would like to use the new heated bed option, but for that I would need a new 60cm leadscrew from the new specs, can anybody give me the specs and maybe a link to buy a longer version

If anybody is interested in just the improved z-stage, Ill gladly split the deal, I just want the heated bed and electronics/power supply, I can't use the z-bed stuff let me know we can split the cost and can probably ship it cheaper too

The two biggest problems I encountered when I enlarged my UM to an UM+, was a sturdy frame and very sturdy Z-platform. everything else work very easy, the UM original lends itself very easily for extension

Zoals UltiArjan al zei, meerdere tegelijk printen, maar ook je "minimal layer time" op 0 zetten wil wel helpen, voor kleine objecten of puntige objecten is de Minimal leyer time een pest, want hij gaat steeds langzamer en in gesmolten pap roeren

Sorry that my answer is in English the problem probably lies in the fact that certain parts are thinner then 0.4mm (nozzle size), Cura won't print thinner then 0.4mm, it will show the part, but if you look at the layers it will be left out. when you make your drawings for printing on the UM2 you need to account for the 0.4mm wall thickness. even then Cura sometimes leaves 0.4 walls out, a trick is to make your nozzle 0.39mm in the settings

There are several options to watch and even control your UM on-line, I like to keep en eye out when I'm at work

I had my Peek melt when I just started out with my UM1, While waiting for a replacement, i made one from dense wood, this worked for several days until it cracked from the heat :cool:

Nice, it's great that materials are getting better, Not so nice the prices are rising, I'm getting a printer cartridge vibe :???:
