  1. Thank´s - it was a mess to do but finally I´m very happy with the nice, fresh green - and acc. to my girlfriend it fit´s perfectly to my curtain :-)
  2. @ Daid, great to hear this. I guess that´s some advantage and I´m really looking forward for this development and hope it is also applicable on UM1´s. @ Nicolinux, yes, that might be true but I understand countermeasures not in direction of features only (honestly, nobody just buys because of features, that´s only the final comparison), I understand it in transporting the customer benefits and adressing the needs in a good marketing... BIG benefits of UM is definitely also the community and the great support - that´s something worth to place in the communication. Well, the time will show... @ Robert - mech. eng. was "only" my former profession :-)
  3. Guess it´s time to show you mine :-) I have a nice arrangement with my girlfrend - she got her own room, I got my own room (ok she got the kitchen)... Just kidding - my home office is partially my workbench, partially office, partially store for some model helicopters for which spare parts I initally bought the UM...
  4. Damm Dude :-) Give me a second - have to grab my chair cause I felt down with it while laughing - that´s a great joke... God, I love this community - nevertheless - I would be happy if you could re-change before somebody start asking "mechanical questions" bout the UM design... :-) Sorry, still loughing.... I guess I owe you a beer if you ever come to Graz... :-)
  5. Ahmm... Dont know if a good idea to mention it now but I'm a graduated mechanical engineer :-) uuups... But I guess you know the term " if you know plastic - use steel..." :-) So - use steel to peel of plastic
  6. Seems that we have to be aware that 3D-printing is a dangerous, bloody thing - hopefully not prohibited because of life-dangering injouries... :-) Honestly, I also use a kind of crocodile "that´s-not-a-knife" dundee fixed-blade knifes (bought for an outdoor trip in US) and gathered some cuts in my fingers during removing prints or cut away support...
  7. I completely agree to Dim3nsioneer´s and also Nicolinux post's... and as a rule of thumb, only 3% of all inventions become sucessfull products. From my point of view, Ultimaker did and still do the right things. Force development, care of their customers with perfect support and grow with a healthy rate. Nevertheless, I also took a look onthe new Replicators... First, the design looks nice, like a microwave, so something most customers are familiar with. Secondly, they promote HIPS as soluable support material and heated chambers as they have now no problems with patent infringement... From an marketing point of view, that´s a pretty good starting point... So what could be the countermeasures? (if neccessary?)
  8. As mommy told - hands away of sharp things... like knifes... or girlfriends... :-) Get well soon!
  9. hmmm... just for wiping - might some kind of brush be a solution - mounted near the x/y-0/0 and passed during the way to the skirt ?
  10. Yes, that's my intention - I will give it a try :-) Thank you !!
  11. Hi guys, regarding Robert's chain - do you think it will fit on an UM1 too?
  12. Sorry, forgot to mention - PLA @ UM1... Will hopefully get a chance by tomorrow to start a new try (if sgt. wife gives the ok :-) )
  13. Hi guys, Don't know what I did wrong but tried to print on glass (4mm) and a 1:3 solution of wood glue - no success... :-( Solution distributed with a brush, bed leveling done as usual via a PostIt, print started at 210 degree... Any hints??
  14. I know, topic is a bit older but - would an M0 instead of G4 P... be an alternative? @ Illuminarti, what do you think?
  15. Guys, thank you all for your assistance and patience in 2013 - might 2014 bring joy and fun - and luck - to everyone of you. All the best whishes from Austria :-)
  16. Ahhhmmm... What have I said.... :-) Not particulary mentioned you, but YES, great idea, guess you're the right guy for this job ;-)
  17. Me too - what is the reson behind? Or even the better question: is somebody here able to "extend" the product lifetime of this parts??? Maybe european engineered??
  18. Hallo Karsten!
  19. Aaahhhrrrgggg.... Thought I forget something simple and logical just a second after posting... :-)
  20. Sounds great! @ George: could you please explain that a bit more about this tweak zero... or is there a source to get info about this?
  21. As I learned from Illuminarti, just UM2 are affected. UM1 has no abort scenario.
  22. @ Illuminarti, thank you, I appreciate your support! Will update my machine soon :-)
  23. Guys, one small question for UM1 users: As there is no abort sequence in UM1, the new firmware is working on this machine without any problems - isn't??
  24. Great idea! I'm very interested in this becaus I also started working on a semi-auto leveling using a similar approach than in a linked video of this thread. How do you plan to level the bed - only via software or mechanically??
