  1. 20 hours... ouch, is that 8" tall ? Looks great, both the print and the anatomy skills. Would be nice to prime and paint.
  2. 3mm should be more than enough for support. Depending on the gap between her legs, if its only say 4-5mm, it may print OK with small amount of droop. The printer will print the legs upto that layer and then will go straight across from leg to leg.. the pla may droop a little on the first layer then improve after that.. I did some prints today with a 5mm flat gap, and they printed pretty well.
  3. Looks like a top job Robert.. good work! I am wondering... is anybody actually 100% sure a new feeder system is in need of? A lot of people now seem to be printing highly successfully with the standard issue feeder? This is not a criticism of all the excellent work in this thread by the way!! far from it.., its a genuine question of who actually is hoping and waiting for a killer new feeder mechaism ?
  4. Looks awesome Jonathan, do you intend to do any post work, spray it chrome ?
  5. Yes I really should slow it down like you say and go for better prints. Which ever my next project ends up being I will certainly do that. But I will continue as I am, and just use this project as a learning curve, both for 3D printing and post work. I am printing ( trying to!! ) small finger sections at the moment, which are proving to be a real pain in the a$$. Redesign and rethink required. Last year me and the girlfriend treated ourselves to a nice 5 week holiday travelling Peru & Bolivia. Machu Picchu was a fascinating place. We did a 6 day Hike called The Saltankay Trek, which took us all over the mountain ranges and then descended down to machu picchu. My walking boots are pretty bruised and battered now.. as are my leg joints lol. When did you go?
  6. Braddock. WOW! That looks awesome. Is that the real deal, or one YOU have made? I know you are capable of making this after seeing some of your stuff! I am pretty happy with my CAD model ( Which I will happily share when i have completed it ). I have taken references from all over the web, so many photos... and I think have modelled it pretty accurately, however a lot of the images I am using for reference do have different details. This is my first ever project to 3D print and build anything..so jumped in at the deep end! The parts I have printed so far have been printed at poor settings and way too fast ( due to my lack of patience it seems )..but I was thinking that a rougher surface would attract the primer better.. never painted anything before either (apart from a window frame lol) But.. its a learning curve for me, and I am enjoying it. If at the end, I am not happy with it...I can make another one Thanks for that painting link... they have serious skills. Makes my few tins of automotive primer and chrome spray paint look very amateurish indeed haha. I will post some pics of the project so far later. I think my friend will be happy with his 40th birthday present...if I let him have it !!
  7. Looks great. You would`nt need any support for that print. Settings seem good. Leaving it alone for a whole day whilst out is scary at first, but when you get back home and see an awesome print sitting on the bed its a great feeling I really would love to learn Zbrush, but I do find it a little too overpowering for my little patience. I have just downloaded the "simple" version though, sculptris. I might play one day. Would love to do anatomy too, but again, im not very patient lol.
  8. Yellow Tail - Australian Shiraz red wine. MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm More of the terminator arm is printing at the moment...I cant watch a movie and relax anymore without wanting to run to my other love in my life (UM2) and see if shes OK lol
  9. No worries mate, I will. The CAD work is all done ( apart from a couple of finger parts ), I originally just modelled everything as I would as a engineer... but have since gone back to it all and made it a little more printing friendly, I have realised even more so that I don`t have much patience...since owning the UM2 I tend to print everything as quickly as I can and worry about the quality afterwards haha Not looking forward to the sanding, priming and spraying bit!
  10. Done mine too. You should have the ultimaker forum contribute to the design... give us the brief We can help.
  11. Shurik, I thought of you when I heard about the earthquake in Chile. Glad your OK
  12. Awww fingerpuk... man that`s a shame. Sounds like a really shitty store. If you were closer to the midlands, you could pop into mine for a cuppa T and see the UM2 in action printing something decent
  13. Takei, I like the idea... but it concerns me a bit that the filament could be tangled anyway on the original spool and this cover makes it even more harder for it to untangle itself ? There is deffinatly a spool design waiting to happen though, I am having issues with filament from 3 suppliers now. Ultimaker filament is crap when it gets to the last 3rd. Faberdashery is unspooled anyway and usually ok, but my last reel tangles everywhere and is a nightmare to untangle... and errr cant remember the last one lol
  14. Hopefully you made the purchase. All you Londoners are rich anyway, what`s £2000
  15. Turn the lights off in the office... switch the UM2 bad boy on....watch their faces gleem with joy when it lights up and starts printing. This printer looks awesome. LOL
  16. Things always look better on a render... will look rubbish in real life haha Kidding Rob! Looks great!
  17. I just spent £30 on Primer, Chrome paint and lots of Wet & Dry. Time to see how much effort it takes to spray PLA
  18. Mowed the grass! Cleaned the dishes. Ordered chinese takeaway. Walking to shop for a few bottles of beer. Happy Days! You didnt say I couldnt post Boring things here Ian haha
  19. haha deepshots. A friend of mine loves robots, and collects all kinds of small robot toy things lol... so for his birthday I thought I would print him a small robot... but OH, I got carried away and am now working on a full scale T800 terminator arm haha
  20. Haha Xeno, Makes your ultimaker look HUGE
  21. LoL fingerpuk, you really have been around the block. Your right about the Form1, I have been speaking with a few people recently who have been having all kinds of issues... glad I went for the UM2. If your in London, Imakr has a store there, you can pop along and they do demo nights etc.
