Another 3D printed clock
By JohnFox
This was the first clock I printed. The designer is Christoph Laimer, aka 'The Goofy' who published it on Thingiverse a while ago.
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:328569/#files
A much more forgiving design than his pocket watch. I used a 1.3Kg block of wood as the weight and it runs for several hours. On this build, I eventually re-designed some of the gears in Sketchup in order to get tighter tolerances, mainly on the co-axial hours-minutes-seconds gears. The frame is held by M3 bolts and the pins were stainless steel. However, brass would have been a much better material to work with.
The key to get it working is to make sure the anchor and escape wheel have very low friction. All the hands were supposed to be yellow but I had to re-print them and had run out.

Lawn Mower Clutch Gears Replacement
By peetersm
The clutch gears on my push lawn mower (Stormbringer) kept stripping out, after trying to repair them with epoxy putty I designed these to 3D print.
The PLA worked gears for about 2 years worth of mowing then I had to preint new replacements again.

Craftsman Nut Driver Tray
By tyman00
My nut drivers in their original carrying case made it difficult to quickly retrieve a driver from my toolbox and they took up a lot of space in the drawer. I used TinkerCAD to design a tray to snugly fit each driver. The tray was too large to fit on the bed of the Ultimaker 2 so I split it into two pieces and built in dowl slots to align the pieces when I glued them together with CA glue.
I printed in ColorFabb XT as it was the only Black Filament I had at the time. I printed at a VERY high resolution so it took a long time to print. However the tray had zero cleanup work done to it. What you see in the photos are the two pieces straight of the bed and glued together.

Finger Potentiometer
By LesHall
This fancy gizmo should really be called a Finger Rheostat because it acts like a variable resistor. You print the object in a base of PLA and an upper overhanging layer of Proto-Pasta electrically conductive PLA. Then you install it in a circuit squeeze and / or push it's coils around and they short together in such a way as to lower the resistance of the object. I used one to make a VCO and it works great!

Stringy Print
By gemgillin
The purpose of this post is to gain some professional advice with this print. I have made this print (which came pre-loaded on the SD card with my printer) a few times with varying success. However the common thing I notice are:
1. The bottom layers are not formed together and very stringy; and
2. The final layering on the top is also stringy.
I would like to try to improve this print, to help expand my printing knowledge & skills.
Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Singing Serpent
By Wisar
This is so not my design but it looks cool and prints really well! I am going to try painting it next. This is a popular model from Thingiverse with this version done in ColorFabb NGEN at 70% of the models normal size. The prints that you see are 100mm tall.
There are two because I broke the wing on one. The second was printed slightly hotter to help improve strength.
