  1. The UMO+ does not use the heater from the UM2. Those are really different. But it is using a 24V 40W heater instead of a 18V 40W heater. (we haven't had issues with the 18V heaters on 24V. But it's not exactly running in spec then)
  2. Sensor is one item. We buy it as one item. But if you look at the documentation of that item you will see that it's made of, and what the requirements are for the item.
  3. The black magic "only follow mesh surface" option might help you here. It will cut your model into layers, and will just print where there is an intersection of the layer and the model. This gives you a lot of fine control, and takes a lot of intelligence out of Cura. (This mean, no infill, no skins, no nothing)
  4. Wait. Just thought up another "issue". The NovoMaker stuff is webgl, so the WebGL viewer has the model data. This is just javascript in your browser. It would be quite doable to make a greasemonkey script that allows you to save the 3D models from the viewer. Much easier then rebuilding it from gcode :-)

  6. Ok, back into full testing phase! I want this issue, and the SD card issue solved ASAP. So, this RC should fix both I think: http://software.ultimaker.com/Cura_closed_beta/ It also has some minor UM2 firmware modifications, lowered the material loading speed a bit as it was causing motor stalls for some people.
  7. To comment a bit more on this. The protection on IP like this is silly. IP is a legal protection, so you should protect it with legal, not with technology. For example, look at http://www.turbosquid.com/ You can buy 3D models there. You get the actual 3D model, with a certain license. Violate the license and you are in legal problems. Same thing you could do for a 3D printing market place. Saves the user troubles, saves the site host troubles (no need for cloud based slicing, which is not just a running cost, but also a site design cost)
  8. This is a seriously cool design! I am wondering about the repeatability, but I'm pretty sure you could manage to get that down to what's required.
  9. This image might help in explaining: http://wiki.ultimaker.com/File:Bolt_assy_v3bolt.png I had this same problem 3 years ago when building my first machine. I recommend taking out the bolt. Screwing on the nut quite far, put 1 ring on it, put the capnut on it. Screw the capnut tight against the bolt. Now screw the nut back, until it clamps the ring. Take 2 wrenches, and screw the nut and the capnut together as tight as you can. Did this 3 year ago, still going strong today.
  10. Free screw! (Most likely just a dropped screw during production) Just to make sure, there should be a screw at the back end of the build plate sticking out of the bottom, this goes into a hole at the bottom to hit the endstop.
  11. It's not that hard to remesh a 3D model from GCode. Maybe I should write something in my spare time someday just to prove a point here. That aside. I'm not convinced that 3D printer users are waiting for this. Finally. Make sure you understand the CuraEngine license. As from the settings shown I deduce that you are most likely using this to slice. And the AGPL is chosen to prevent engine changes to be locked behind remote services.
  12. Also, limits the material you can use quite a bit. Just try ABS in one side and PLA in the other (most common materials right now). And I'm 100% sure you'll run into problems with the single nozzle setup. Unless you purge a lot of material when switching, which is a waste and generates a huge mess. (Oh yes, I've tried this)
  13. There are no real firmware changes for the Original. So you can run any old firmware just fine.
  14. Ok, just looked at all the differences in the code. And I can only think of 1 thing that could be causing this. Can someone who has this issue try adding an Ultimaker Original machine to their machine list, select it, restart Cura, and then check if the issue is gone? If that's the case, then I'm quite sure where I made the mistake. (Due to the UM2go I had to slightly adjust how the text on the backplate is rendered, and the UMO does not have this text, skipping that rendering step)
  15. Note, I rather not have one big topic with all issues. That would be a huge mess for replies and trying follow everything. (FYI: I'm the guy fixing the issues)
  16. Don't get me wrong. The other problems are also present. Oozing from the inactive nozzle will make your print look ugly. Printing with PVA clogs the nozzles. Calibrating the height of both nozzles exactly right is hard. And the teflon pieces deform easier due to the added heat. But your failure rate on single extrusion prints goes up to 30-50% or something. Not just tall easy to knock over objects. Also large flat things can fail.
  17. The build plate is actually right now. It used to be wrong :-) now it shows actually where the nozzle can reach
  18. It's hardly simple at all. It opens a road for a lot of bugs. (Just as the translations to other languages introduced bugs) Except when you use Cura. See it as a small step in the proper direction ;-)
  19. This is the workaround for now. I'll investigate this tomorrow, and hopefully have a fix for it very soon.
  20. Enough to draw this conclusion right now, but, with a small correction. I do think this machine has potential to work: http://mendel-parts.com/en/3d-printers/orcabot-xxl.html But, with the disclaimer that we did not test this one. (however, the dual-cart design solves a lot of issues for dual-extrusion) Part of the decision to cancel the dual extrusion upgrade for the UM2 came from information from me. It's not just that dual-extrusion printing does not work up to the quality we want. It also effects single extrusion prints. The cold nozzle could really ruin your day by knocking over your prints. It's the reason I removed the 2nd nozzle from my home machine after a few weeks of having dual extrusion on it.
  21. We looked into that. Not going to happen. For two reasons. First, it's not forgiving enough with push fittings. Quite a few of our tests broke the panels when inserting the Z rods or bearings. Tuning the milling process is much harder. Next it's the environmental aspect of Trespa. It's very low on the recyclable list. The auto bed leveling on the printrbot is "meh" in my opinion. The sensors they are using has a large variation on depending on temperature and between each unit. And thus requiring calibration. And, just because we gave up on dual-extrusion upgrade for the UM2. Does not mean we gave up on dual extrusion. Naturally, multiple materials is what is making dual-extrusion interesting. The feeder of the UM2 isn't the best. We know, we're working on it. Good things are happening here. And, wifi/network for a next printer is a bit of a natural next step.
