1. When I have a print which finished halfway through the night, in the morning I can usually just get it off the bed like it was never attached..
2. What do you consider high quality? Without seeing any layers, or no weird oddities and a consistent extrusion flow? I have seen prints of beautiful empire states buildings (pretty straight up) at 250 microns. And yesterday I printed a dice (as a test) at 300 micron and it is beautiful too. If you don't want to see any layers, there is a world of difference between what material you choose. PLA tends to be more shiny, what will emphasise the layers. ABS is more matt. But in PLA, there is also a huge difference, where silver hides a lot of layers and other colours show them a lot more.
3. Just got an email back from our creative team and turns out there is a typo in the graphic. The robot was sliced not at 150micron but at 250micron. Quite a stupid mistake. If you change that it ends up at 18h12m. We're gonna fix the graphic in the timelapse, so it won't cause any more confusion. Thanks @Labern!
4. Hi, could you upload a picture of the breaks in your filament? It is hard to imagine what you are exactly experiencing, and pictures always help! How do you store your filament? How cold is it exactly? The ambient temperature does certainly affect the working of an Ultimaker. The ideal temperatures for operating are between 10ºC and approximately 32ºC. The level of moisture and temperature in the room/area can definitely influence both the adhesion and condition of your filament.
5. We'll mix in an Ultimaker general (Ultimaker 2 and Ultimaker Original) themed evening soon!
6. Finally! Super cool. Did you do the animation as well? Will it be on national tv? Looking back, are you satisfied with result and efforts you put in? .. what is next?
7. Not by heart, let me find out! My first thought is that the calculation is a bit off, but lets double check to be sure.
9. The next Ulti-Evening is coming up, with another educational theme. You can't seem to hide from it; the Olsson Block. We'll share with you what the best way is to install the Olsson Block, what to look out for and what the advantages are of the different nozzles. Next we'll also share some tips which may even help you optimize your prints if you have already installed your Olsson Block. Do you already have an Olsson Block installed or have it waiting to be installed? Bring your Ultimaker! This is the prefect occasion to install it, we'll even bring some extra nozzles with us to play around with. Date: 30-11-2015 Time: 17.00 - 22.00 Location: Protospace, Utrecht 17.00 - 18.00 Arrival (Bring your Ultimaker!) and order food (10 euro pp) 18.30 - 19.00 Presentation 19.00 - 22.00 Olsson Block time!
10. You mean that the way it unrolls from the reel, is in the opposite direction of the curve it makes in the tube?Well, the goal was to have the only friction coming from the bowden tube On the other hand, with the regular set up, the curve is also different from how it uncoils. Do you notice anything from the friction @chrisp? What about extending the handle a little bit so the reel can be on the side of the Ultimaker (and turned around) and the curve could be the same?
11. I would also just order a new glass plate. I have used build tak before, works quite nice but it is not a build plate. It is a sheet of tape, an alternative to blue tape. You don't necessarily need blue tape on your Ultimaker 2, so why would you use build tak? My point is it could be an alternative for adhesion, but not for the build plate. Same goes for the blue tape obviously. I have tried things like gecko tek and flex 3D, not sure if I have tried this exactly. This can be used as an alternative to the glass plate, but I didn't think it worked better. The point is you can bend it so your print comes of faster, but I have always worried about how to ensure it became 100% flat again. From my experience adhesion was also not as straight forward. Don't know about the rest, but if you would ask me I would recommend to use a regular glass plate
12. Well, @gr5 sells an upgrade kit, so it is possible. But the video leaves the impression that you don't need to make any modifications and just feed 1.75mm filament.
13. why do you say that? .. it says Austrian no jk.. that is kinda embarrassing! . Fixed it!
14. During one of the occasions, did you check what the display was saying? If a temperature error is triggered, it will also stop printing. Also, if there was a power drop. I don't think it has anything to do with the size of the file. I think 90% of the things people print are based on an STL file, so that shouldn't be a problem either.
15. Here is an example on how to upload your entry! Good luck guys, we are curious on what you will be making!
16. Version 1.0

This is an example on how to upload your entry. This is not an entry to the contest. Do you want to participate in the contest and win a free special edition Olsson Block? Read more about it here!
17. Two weeks ago we started adding a free Olsson Block set with every sold Ultimaker 2 and Ultimaker 2 Extended. We'll continue doing this for a few weeks because we believe it is a great example of what the community contributes to Ultimaker. And the Olsson Block can definitely be a valuable addition to your Ultimaker. You guys carry a lot of knowledge, helped countless of users and continue to contribute to the Ultimaker ‘Universe’. Obviously, you deserve something for this too! So for the next few weeks we will host a 3D printing contest. Every week we’ll have a new winner who wins a special edition Olsson Block set. It contains the same set of nozzles we share with our new users, but especially for you we have added the 1.0mm nozzle too, for the super fast prints! To draw you the full picture, it contains the: Olsson Block itself 0.25mm nozzle 0.4mm nozzle 0.6mm nozzle 0.8mm nozzle 1.0mm nozzle a screwdriver and socket to swap nozzles. For this week we want to see creativity. Lets all go banana's! To help you out, we have selected this very cool lowpoly gorilla! Get funky with the colours and go nuts with the scene. May the most original and funny entry win! The other rules of the contest are pretty simple. RULES - We know how you all love hacking and modifying, so we have only one guideline: it must be printed on an Ultimaker. Besides that.. everything goes! - Entries must be uploaded in the Print section. (Fill out your settings if you want. The winner agrees to share his settings at the end of the week). - Share the link and a picture of your upload in this thread. - Upload only one picture per entry - Everyone can participate in every contest, but you can only win once. - There will be only 1 prize per contest - Photoshop is not allowed. The only modification that is allowed is on your Ultimaker! EXTRA INFORMATION - We will choose a winner based on originality. - We will announce each weeks winner on Monday in the corresponding thread on our forum, on our Twitter feed and Instagram! - You can participate until Sunday midnight CEST.
WHAT DO I NEED TO PRINT?
The model we have selected to get crazy with for this week is made by our Austrian friend Bauermaker Download the file here. Upload your entry here. Share your entry here below. Alrighty then.. Ready? Set? Print awaaaaaay!
18. Congratulations ... @Labern! It may come as no surprise, that the man who officially printed worlds smallest power drill also managed to print the smallest detailed Ulti-bot! Congratulations @Labern, great job! You'll receive the special edition Olsson Block set, which also holds the 1.mm nozzle. Unfortunately we only have 1 prize per contest. But, if Labern is OK, I think we should be able to share some of the eternal fame with.. - @darkdvd, for printing a ~1mm smaller ulti-bot. Labern's entry was just a little bit more detailed which was the other criteria besides size. - @DesignMakeTeach, for having the most original entry. We loved the work you put in the pictures. Keep it up for our next contests guys! We'll start within a few hours, stay tuned..
19. What you described is kinda the distinguishment. It doesn't have to be a perfect print, but it does have to represent the file with the ears, antenna's, face etc. It shouldn't 'mean to be the robot'.
20. The winner will be announced today, on this thread! .. and a new contest will also start today.
21. And there are more people who found a role in Ultimaker after having started as a dedicated user.
22. ah, you're right! I'll notify our dev team about it, thank you!
23. There is only 1 upload not showing any pictures, and that could also be a mistake by the user or during the upload. The rest looks OK? About the arrows, I don't know if there are any other pictures in these uploads. When there is only 1 picture attached it won't show the arrows. Does your upload have more pictures?
