  1. Correct, didn't even have a web browser open
  2. It's wifi I am also using the default, "Recommended" settings to print the Seahorse with PLA and PVA Both attempts, the print head knocks over the print. Thus far, I'm still waiting for the fun to begin
  3. I've had pretty decent luck with Cura 2.5 on my Ultimaker 2+ and am trying it out on the Ultimaker 3 now. One think I am noticing is just going between the tabs for the nozzles, I get long pauses of "not responding" and some really, really slow performance within Cura. Is this related to the networking to the printer? I haven't seen pauses and hangs like this with the UM2+ and this laptop is pretty fast. Anything I can do to remedy this?
  4. We've discussed this topic a good deal I still think it should be disabled by default
  5. I've used Testor's Model glue in the past...it's so, so stringy tho, so clean up is important.
  6. I was looking at the instructions and kept looking for some subtle warming about alignment of the magnets North or South
  7. We've all heard it...the rumbling and grinding sound as Cura's default settings (Combing Mode All) mashes the nozzle against the print, making the print bed bounce and just, generally, not good Can you guys please, please fix this? It's so annoying. I find myself using Simplify3D more and more as Cura does things like this. If I set Combing to Off, I get an awful finish. Please don't tell me I need to set z-hop or any other crazy things. Honestly, Cura on default settings shouldn't perform so badly.

    BB-8 Dome

    Version 1.0

    967 downloads

With some extra Ultimaker 2+ printers on hand I queued three to print segments of the dome and then the top piece. Each segment took 27 hours. Printed in Simplify 3D with helper discs to ensure good corner adhesion. Minimal support, only manual support for the lower orfices in the front dome piece. With some sanding and clean up, this will look great!
  9. Just a quick note...something I discovered and might apply to others... I went into my Notification Settings and figured out why I wasn't receiving alerts on 3D Prints I had posted. They were off Maybe a default setting? Now that I have those set to my preferences (immediate and email), I am not being alerted to when someone comments (or likes) a 3D Print I have posted
  10. That would be a nice thing to have, especially for those who are more professional users and less into tinkering. For example, I know that my Colorfabb PLA/PHA tends to work best at a higher temp than Ultimaker brand. With the Ulticode, I can't set that in Cura. I have to do it manually on the machine. (I would advise a materials.txt import of a ColorFabb filament, but I believe that system is not working reliably) Or...if there is a way to add a filament profile within cura in the future, that would be superb. This way, if I recall the settings I used for another filament type, say ColorFabb nGen or ColorFabb XT, I could have those known-good settings imported and ready to print. Just thinking of a way to make it easier to print with Cura. Obviously, in Simplify3D, you set everything manually but you can create a profile for it. Which makes switching to different filaments very easy.
  11. I like Crash Test, he's very much how I like a review....blunt!
  12. Good day, I was curious if the newer version of Cura had material profiles for PLA makers besides Ultimaker. When I went into the pull-down menu, I saw pretty much what I expected. (I had hoped to see material profiles for the ColorFabb PLA/PHA filaments) What surprised me was when I changed my printer to the Folger Tech FT-5 and when I clicked on that material pull down menu, many more options appeared. Now two questions... 1) Why do those materials not show up for the Ultimaker? I am guessing it is because they are 1.75mm 2) When will material profiles other than the Ultimaker brand appear for Ultimaker printers? (And how can a user manually add that?) Colorfabb and Ultimaker have been a really good combination for a very long time. I'm really surprised that's not in there!

    Baby Groot

    Version 1.0

    1,482 downloads

I got this model from a link the 3D Printing Nerd had provided (I think it has since moved around a bit) Per his video, I used Simplify 3D to address separated layers and then, it was easy! Generate the support structures and print each piece, body took 9 hours, head took 8 hours Clean up was easy!
  14. This post can be deleted The printer has been sold and has shipped off to it's new home in sunny California
  15. Those are such neat machines, just wish it came with a heated build plate
  16. Underextrusion is most often a hardware issue. It could very well be that this problem coincidentally started when you started testing Cura 2.5. Please try the standard methods to try and resolve the issue on your printer. Time for an atomic pull (or two)
  17. What if the models are large, so two do not fit within the printable region?
  18. Print completed...first one with this Beta 2. As with the noted rumbling sounds, some other issues The outer part of the part looks good. The inner is awful. Lot's of marks and underextrusion going on. The surface finish is ugly. Asides the suggestion of Combing Mode to Off...how else could this be improved? The wall thickness is 1.2 mm, so I am guessing that made it hard for Cura to adequately compensate of Outline Overlap (as S3D would call it) Also, please check out the prongs and how between each, this is a tiny support structure. It isn't supporting *anything* and there is no way to remove these. Please please...give us the ability to remove and manually add support where needed
  19. Well I hate to say this....it is still happening I just finished an 8 hour printer (from Cura) and went to start another print. After the print started, it did the usual priming but nothing came out. I left it alone and by the second skirt pass, i was getting little dots and finally some material coming out. I aborted the print and went in Maintenance on the Ultimaker 2+ menu and Move Material. Here's the last section of gcode for that print if it helps at all? 20. No, usually I am quick to fault myself but my UM2+ has been doing some really really good prints lately. This one just surprised me with the grinding noises. First print using Beta 2
  21. Combing Mode Off for that? That's interesting. I just don't understand why the default UM2+ profile would require that disabled.
  22. One issue I am still facing with Cura is the dreaded rumble (heard in beginning of video Yes, I could use z-hop but I really, really think Cura should be smart enough to not do this. Every. Damn. Time.
  23. Yeah the caption/label hasn't been updated on the website, but when you commence the download, you will see ....
  24. Any updates on how to make materials.txt survive power off and on? @sandervg
