  1. I'm very proud having worked on this as part of the Cura team, and am looking forward to make it even better with community feedback.
  2. Note that 15.06.03 (and the newer-but-still-old 15.10 beta) also has the wireprinting functionality, and though much has improved during the past months the wireprinting functionality hasn't. The wireprint settings need to be made visible in the preferences (settings, all the way at the bottom). In short: if you want to try wireprinting, download 15.10. If you don't feel like using unfinished software, wait for a public release of 2.1
  3. Hi @mastory, I am currently reworking how profiles are handled in the new Cura. It will be a little more like in the old Cura, where you have one active profile per machine, and creating/storing a new profile will be a deliberate action where you're entering a name yourself. So there will no longer be "Normal Quality (Customised)" profiles (unless you create them yourself). I'll be revisiting this post to make sure I got most of your suggestions in (though I cannot promise I'll get them all for the first iteration).
  4. I guess the actual colors are a case of personal taste, but I see what you mean about contrast with the buildplate. The legend for the layer view is a good idea worth "borrowing". Thanks.
  5. Can you explain what you mean by "visual color representation"? What is it that CraftWare does better than Cura in this regard? Do you need more contrast? I'm currently working on a (hopefully final) rework, so input is appreciated.
  6. Think of wood filaments as MDF (at best); wood fibers with lots of polymer inbetween. You would not create - say - a dashboard of a fancy car out of MDF without a layer of fineer to make it look like wood. Wood filaments are awesome for their sandability
  7. > I tried the Woodfill PLA. it didn't work. What happened? I would guess the layers delaminated? You could cheat and pre-drill, or heat up your nails/staples so the material gets a bit softer before being punctured. Edit: too slow ;-)
  8. The official Cura linux builds will not run on the raspberry pi; they require a x86 or x64 ("Intel") CPU. You would have to build/use Cura from the sources, which would be no trivial task on a raspberry pi. As an alternative to running full Cura on the raspberry pi, you could run Octoprint on the raspberry pi. Works a treat with the UMO! I would not slice objects on a raspberry pi (too slow for me, and not flexible enough for me interface-wise), but it is possible with Octoprint (octoprint can use the CuraEngine for slicing). If you want to check out OctoPrint on the raspberry pi, I recommend the ready-made OctoPi image: http://octoprint.org/download/
  9. When posting issues and suggestions like this, please include the version of Cura you are talking about. Currently there are basically three different versions of Cura, one of which is an entirely different application that shares hardly any code with the other two. 15.04.0x (and before): The old (and currently recommended) version of Cura. This will get no more functional updates. Any usability issues will only be solved in newer versions. 15.06.0x A total rewrite, which many will say was released prematurely. Personally I would suggest noone use this amymore. 15.10 (or 15.09.xx) The open beta. This is where things are happening, and where usablity enhancements can be made. Since it is a development of the 15.06 version, it will have usability features that are different from the 15.04 versions. Some of the issues you mention I can not reproduce with 15.04 or 15.09/15.10. This would suggest you are using 15.06?
  10. Or even a job Lol with 3d printing being so open source there isnt really a need to hire anyone Yeah, I pretty much told them so...
  11. @mendells: Don't give up on white; learn to love the texture you get after a quick sanding!
  12. Instead of a "Buy now" button on the right, where it does not make much sense (this is the "personalised" area), wouldn't it make sense to make a "Store" menu item right next to the "Products" menu? This "Store" menu item could have a dropdown menu that contains links to "Ultimaker Store" and "Local Resellers" (which links to the resellers overview page). That way you don't need the (silly) "Buy our products at" overlay, which only ever makes sense if you have selected a different locale with the control on the bottom left of the page (seriously, they could not have put that control and the Buy now button it relates to further apart if they tried).
  13. 15.04.02 was the last release of the "classic" Cura, before it was completely rewritten. The 15.06 versions were the first public releases of the new, rewritten from scratch Cura. Unfortunately, as is often the case with a complete rewrite, the 15.06 versions had quite a few bugs and missing features, and have since been labeled "beta" versions. Since then there have been much improved beta versions (the 15.09/15.10 releases). Because these versions are still not as stable as the classic Cura, 15.04 is the recommended version at this time. 15.04.03 has been released as a (final?) update of the "classic" Cura to (better) support the Olsson block for the UM2. As far as I know, a stable version of 15.09 is expected to be released fairly soon. If you prefer using 15.06 over 15.04, I encourage you to try out the 15.09 version (currently at 15.09.91): http://software.ultimaker.com/Cura_closed_beta/15.10/ https://ultimaker.com/en/community/view/17296-cura-1510-open-beta
  14. @nallath: /thread Edit: doh! jinxed the magic nallath thread end
  15. @LePaul: I find that the Colorfabb whites (both of them) print a bit rougher than their other PLA colors, with results like you show. One thing to note though is that they sand extremely well, to a very pleasant almost chalk-like finish (instead of the dinky "plastic" feel of cheap PLA). I guess they use a somewhat chalky pigment in this filament, to ensure opaqueness.
  16. You mean in the new Cura? Ooh yeah... Check out the "Settings" section in the Preferences! There are LOTS of settings that you can fiddle with.
  17. The old Cura (up to 15.04) and the new Cura (15.06 and beyond) do not share any settings as far as I know, so you should be able to run them side-by-side and one does not affect the other. However, 15.06 and the new betas share the same settings files, and there could be some incompatibilities between these versions.
  18. > The machine profile should match the machine that you have and should not be changed. That may be true, but there are lots of machines that have changeable nozzles (even if a stock UM2 does not).
  19. You might even get invited over for lunch in Geldermalsen 8)
  20. The blackish object is to indicate where the object is. Moving it should trigger a reslice, which moves the layers when it's done. Perhaps the move/rotate/scale tools should be disabled in layer view to prevent this confusion. Either that, or the layers should be cleared immediately when a reslice is triggered. Or both.
  21. CuraEngine is a separate project, which you have to build as well: https://github.com/Ultimaker/CuraEngine
  22. Did you set the pythonpath module? It has to include the libArcus/python folder and the Uranium folder.
  23. "/lib/python3/dist-packages/Arcus"
