  1. hiya, this might be your problem. I had this problem and it was the hot pull that worked for me. https://ultimaker.com/en/community/51107-ultimaker-3-bb-core-problem-solved-here-is-how when you check the filament length all the way to the feeder, do you see a massive gouge where the gear has eaten into the filament?
  2. I have to say I am impressed with the Zortrax result but having said that it was designed with ABS being the main objective. everything else came second. ABS must have an enclosure, there is no getting away from that. I print a lot with ABS and very rarely get that result as you have with the Zortrax. My enclosure is on my UM2+. Maybe this is the next challenge for Ultimaker to have a full enclosure and achieve that level of quality.
  3. hiya, looking at the third picture it seems that the metal part is too low. it should sit on top of the main frame. through the hole then the spring sits on the inside of main frame. the rest is correct
  4. would it be possible that an Ultimaker rep only flag is created so when you guys have read the post you can use the Flag to highlight that it has been read. it may help in the duplication of the post by other people. totally understand that there is limited disclosure if any. But it may go a long way just to know that one of you guys has read the post with the issue presented on it. I am pretty confident that you read pretty much all of them, otherwise some of the solutions you have come up with would not have appeared at all. but from reading through this very long post there are quite a few who doubt because it seems that it's not being read or actioned. I call it 'the feel good factor'
  5. I think feed back on the feed back by ultimaker might help to ease fustrations even if it's a statement where they explain they aren't able to address it. but things that are being looked at could do with a comment or even an alert on the post to say Ultimaker acknowledges this post. I think at the moment we are assuming they have seen the post but some posts expand really quickly.
  6. As an avid Ultimaker fan I'll be honest it's not been without it's issues on both 2+ and 3. if you buy a porche you expect expectional service to go with it. I would like to say that for both machines I have had nothing less. although the issues have been received with disbelief but with detailed explanation and demonstrations I always find myself with a resolution. From both Ultimaker direct, importer and authorised seller I have had polite and great communication along with direction, solution and/or replacement parts. So thank you Ultimaker with the customer support. things can go wrong but it's the response that really matters in the end. Bex
  7. Hiya all, not long ago I posted about the BB core being a pain and failing to extrude properly. well here is the reason why: some how the PVA lined the hot end and narrowed it it by about 2mm. when the problem started I had done a few hot and cold pulls to resolve the issue. on the 3 or 4th time, with a few failed prints in between, it came out. during the hot and cold pulls it wasn't apparent that this was the case. however you can see in the pictures the issue at hand. it is now printing fine but am a bit miffed that at least half of the 350gr got wasted due to this. hope this will help any one that is having the same problem. basically this is how it came out: during the hot pull, I extruded by hand a length of PLA then with a bit of force I yanked it out. It didn't come out with the cold pull. having said that obviously the process at this point I wasn't at the cold pull stage any way but I am referring to previous attempts . regards Rebekah Anderson
  8. Hiya all, I have a 2 month old Ultimaker 3. I haven't finished the original reel or PVA and yet it's failing to extrude during a print. I've done 2 sets of hot and cold pulls using the machines programmed methods. On both I got a nice clean pointed filament which appears clean. Yet iduring a print it will stop extruding. I can't see why. Any advice is appreciated as I'm wasting filament Many thanks Rebekah
  9. hiya all, I have tried everything and come up with nothing. I went though the troubleshooting, re-run the WiFi setup a few times, checked my router. I am at a loss. I have the Virginmedia hub 3.0. can someone help me out here. everything else on the WiFi works fine. I am not 100% with the router so if you say open port, please explain how I can do that with my router as I don't know what I am meant to do. many thanks Bex
  10. Hiya all, I was wondering if I could change the prime strategy at the start of a print? I want to slow it down but the commands are in the printer and initiated with the G-Code G280. is there any way to either over ride it or to adjust it? Many thanks Bex
  11. new what? Completely new printer? yeah, complete new printer. I think that somthing happened during shipping which if I am right is from holland. I checked a few things like the brick, is the light on? mine was a yes. I checked the whole printer, underneath I saw the ethernet card had a light on so my guess is that something happened during transit. @Wildenms I appreciate the anger, I was too, but contacting the supplier got me a replacement. the new machine is working and the prints are fantastic. I'd say that the print they did was just after assembly and therefore the issue with transit is the most likely. if you have contacted the supplier, Id like to think that you have a replacement on it's way. if not I'd contact the importer to resolve beyond that UM holland. I assure you it's worth the effort. It's deffinately not crap and the PVA support solution works brilliantly. I did have to try a few times to sort it out but I am now printing great parts. Good luck in the end I think that there is an issue during transit that's causing faults but I still say it's worth the trouble chasing it up. Becky
  12. hiya, done the manual a couple of times but I needed the printer to get to work so I will be giving it another go tomorrow when I have a gap
  13. hiya, I am not a reseller it was out by 0.6mm which is pretty pants when printing at 0.1mm height lol. I went to the UK importer and they were surprised. we took another out of their stock and checked it and it was also way off. so we took one from a different box and it was fine. it's been resolved but I haven't heard anything since. bought a new UM3 recently and the first thing I did was check the plate. the people didn't even know about it so hence I asked the question if anything is in place to ensure the plates are good. regards Becky
  14. I did see that and changed it. I don't often use the auto function. I do like some of the changes they did on 4.0 which is always a winner. I just need to sit down and figure out what I need to do for the PVA to work from the start. it's not sticking to the build plate even though I have methods in place for material to do so. I also need to set the retraction yet cause it's seeping out and I am getting a bit of material flopping all over the place at the start of the print.
  15. yeah I need to sit down when I haven't got loads to print and work on it. It seems that S3D isn't compensating for the height difference between the two nozzles as the PVA isn't going down nicely cheers for the info. I have only recently started to use cura (2 years of S3D) so still getting used to the settings and what they actually do.
  16. hiya., I am not worried about the small size. been doing that on the UM2+ and the Wanhao. how do you create them because I can't find where I can do that. Rebekah
  17. Hiya all, I was wondering if there is a way to create new print core profiles in Cura. I have a 0.25 and a 0.15 coming and would prefer to create a core profile rather than doing the jiggery pokery in the settings. many thanks Rebekah
  18. hiya, thank you for the info. I noticed that I was getting wiered spots on the outside on corners (not where it's doing retraction or restarts) but increasing from 0.35 to 0.39 seems to resolve this. In addition I am going to be using 0.15 size nozzle soon (when it arrives). I have used it on UM2+ with some awesome results. so I am looking forward to using it on UM3 I have found that S3D isn't happy with UM3 at the moment. regards Rebekah
  19. Quality Contol: What have you done to address the batch of warped glass plates in the QA process in order to prevent future batches being released with faults Rebekah Anderson RC-Truck-Design
  20. hiya all, I was wondering what the effect of the line width feature has on slicing. if I have it set to 0.35 will the slicer calculate the travel based on 0.35 lines (a wall of 2 lines = 0.70) or calculate based on 0.4 ( a wall of 2 lines = 0.80) and only extrude enough material to create a 0.35 line? or will it slice with lines of 0.35 but extrude 0.40 based on nozzle diameter? with this it could result in what appears to be over extrusion. cheers Becky
  21. hiya, I can't find the app either. I went through the webpage too but no luck that way either. has it been dropped?
  22. thanks for the tip. I will follow up on that. the post was mainly to create awareness that this might be a source for failing first layers. Its something worth checking.
  23. thank you I appreciate it. using Simplify3D allows me a lot of control, monitoring and faster adjustment. It did used to work fine but I think an update with windows has caused an issue with USB control and I can't identify it. It's as if its using the driver to reboot the printer for something that it thinks it needs to identify it in order to connect but if i click connect a number of times during the reboot it connects and all is fine again. I my concern is that the constant rebooting will affect the service life of the printer. it also allows me to level the build plate more effectively when I change nozzles without having to go through the Printer's process. Many thanks Becky
  24. Hiya all, I've been running an UM2+ for nearly 2 years now and decided to upgrade to UM3. I was wondering if this is a common problem and if there is a solution other than a replacement. I setup the printer for first power up. everything connected, power brick blue light on etc... switch it on and I got a burst of the fan running and the a light on the NCP/ethernet card, other than that nothing. It sat there for 10 min or so whilst I was doing other things and the front display nor the dial had any lights. I know power is going into the machine but that's it. any one got any ideas? Becky
