  1. It should automatically migrate your 4.4.1 settings.
  2. I don't see why Cura would be unable to slice these parts.
  3. You can use the backup functionality for that. See extensions -> backup
  4. The model is non-manifold. The following plugin can try and fix those issues for you: https://marketplace.ultimaker.com/app/cura/plugins/fieldofview/MeshTools
  5. There are also some people (Like @ahoeben) who rely on donations to be able to build it. Soo if people can spare a a bit, that would be nice (But if you can't or don't want to, that's okay too. Appreciation also goes a long way!)
  6. Could you post this on github? That helps keeping track of all the issues. https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/new/choose
  7. What do you mean by integrating it? The only thing i do to run an appimage is to add the executable flag and double click it. It doesn't make any modifications to my system.
  8. I'm not sure why the authentication was removed from Connect. I've heard some vague reasons, but nothing concrete. The authentication is also very far from what most companies / large organisations would want. Just a simple authentication just isn't enough. You probably want some sort of role based access, preferably tied in to whatever is already in use (eg; Active directory, or something like that). But that's a whole lot harder to do. I know that we helped out some people in setting up a gateway that sits in between the printer & the network that does allow for authentication. I've already forwarded this topic to some people, so I hope they will contact everyone here that is interested about this.
  9. Yes you do ;) Cura comes with a bunch of plugins pre-shipped.
  10. Have a look at the pause at height post processing script (Extensions -> PostProcessingPlugin -> Modify G-code)
  11. Sketchup is infamous for it's ability to create meshes that look good, but are a complete mess in reality. I suspect that's the case here as well. If you look at the model in x-ray view (preview; selector in the top menu bar called "view type"), and you see red areas, the model is broken. There are a number of online tools that do their best to fix it, but they might not always succeed.
  12. The full fix will be in 4.5, which will be released for beta a week from now. I have made smaller fixes to mitgate the issue in 4.4. So if you want to be really sure, it's better to wait until 4.5
  13. Yeah, we've done it for some rough prototyping. We even went as far as to actually turn it on (even though a lot of it was printed with PLA). That was a really, really bad idea. The stepper motors got hot enough to make the PLA deform, so it broke down rather quickly. Your best bet to get a cheaper printer is to lasercut the panels yourself (and source the parts somewhere else)
  14. Because they use a very, very very old version of CuraEngine last time I checked. They also handle settings in a different way from Cura. That's because the default settings are based on a bowden style printer (aka; the style Ultimaker uses). They can have significantly higher accelerations / speeds. Huh? You don't have to load a print to change settings. Luckily, this is entirely possible 😉 It doesn't. We use the same chip as the Arduino. That's it. He already stated that he isn't using an Ultimaker. The issues he is having stem from using a cheap chinese printer (Creality) and the default profiles that Cura ships being pretty horrible (Some printers with Cura have better profiles, but we have to rely on community contributions for those). There is a lot of (somewhat understandable) frustration with some people that don't have Ultimakers, but are using Cura and some features that they need not being implemented, because they don't add value to Ultimakers.
  15. Beta (which is always the case as far as the Cura team is concerned; We really, really, really like having a beta before a "real" release, because it makes the real one more stable)
  16. Nope. Cura only works with mesh geometry.
  17. I can share a bit of good news; We managed to get some machines that exhibited the problem and implement fixes that work on those machines. The fixes have been merged, so they are in the next release (4.5). If all goes well, it will be released within 2 weeks.
  18. That's what project files are for. They restore it to the full state. Other than that, there is no function in Cura to store all the settings in a single file.
  19. Setting it in the quality_changes should work, provided that the definition also has a setting_function (This is a known bug, we simply havent gotten to fixing it yet)
  20. You can remove all traces of the grid by removing line 219 in buildvolume.py (https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/blob/master/cura/BuildVolume.py#L219)
  21. Yeah, it's a bug that is scheduled for our current sprint, so it should be fixed for the next release (4.5) if all goes well.
  22. If you want to know more about Cura (and the settings) I definitely recommend the setting guide plugin in Cura. It's written by one of our slicer engineers in his free time and it has a lot of information about all the features / settings that Cura has to offer. In quite a few cases, it also provides images (or even videos) to show the difference a setting can make.
  23. I've forwarded this to the rest of our R&D department. I think there are some people that might be interested in playing around with this 🙂
  24. The model is indeed non manifold. As other have already indicated, sketchup is infamous for generating models that look right, but have all kinds of issues with them.
  25. Could you save the project for me? I can have a look at it.
