  1. To get the highest detail, AA 0.25 is the best solution i guess.. But what about PVA support? second AA 0.25 core? Clogging? or BB0.40?
  2. Thank you people, just as i thought, S5 with Cura is the ideal no-nonsense combination. S3D is a very nice program, and i probably would use it over Cura with every non dedicated combination like ultimaker offers.
  3. Hello, can you tell me your experience with the S5 + S3D? I was a fan of S3D, in the tinkering time, now i am all into the automatic workflow of Cura, but is miss some features, the speed and the interface of S3D. I just downloaded the latest verzion, but already, i see that by default the mix up the extruders (left PVA + right PLA), not like it is standard used on the S5. Many thanks, for your input 😉
  4. Until today, still nothing received. 😞
  5. I measure the diameter, and the number of rings, multiply by 3.14, and then i have an indication of the length left on the roll.
  6. Nice, i am in in interested, if, and only if, the total concept of the UM5 stays intact, the automatic bed levelling with the glass plate is so perfect, that i can not mis this anymore. My UM3 feels like a old machine without this feature.
  7. Good idea!! will try this also. (only the interface support with PVA i mean) Anyway, i now use PVA a lot, but i am very carefull with it, i use a drybox (Polymaker), and cut the needed length for the print, the rest goes back in a drybox or sealed bag with silicagel. Blobs and little pieces are a fact of life with PVA. In the past is used the breakaway a lot (still use it sometimes), but for delicate pieces it is not so suitable. And it is a mess to remove also.
  8. what i tried: after installing the beta fw, first time small print, no succes. Feeded the filaments manualy until they where in the hotends, rebooted and retryed. Still no succes. Then i went back to the original fw, and got on with my work.
  9. There is extrusion, but no filament. So not even bad, just unusable for small prints. When i changed to the official fw, i also noticed that the filament was seriously (like 20cm?) retracted.
  10. Am i to picky? Just installed this FW (took me 2 attempts before it completed) -I don't use brim, i find this a pain to remove, and it always stays visible. So i took the prime blob option + 20 lines of skirt. Still not enough to get a good first layer, neither on my extruder1 (TPLA) or 2 (Breakaway) Sorry, but on a 6600k production machine such behaviour is unacceptable to me. So off goes the beta, and back to the normal FW. Better wait than lose production. The good things: lights go off completely now, probing is speed up by reducing the area. Bottom line, on such an expensive machine, even with beta, the basics that were fine, and by my knowledge are not changed in this fw, should not be messed up with. I know, beta beta, but still..
  11. Olala!! Seems to be all the things i wanted. I am in the middle of a long print now, but once it is done, i will certainly try it out.
  12. Mine does not do this. bed goes down like any other Ultimaker i own. Seems like an overspeed on the Z stepper motor. The only times i get strange behaviour, is when i use the printspeed settings on the printer. Seems if you put that higher, all the movements are faster. Nowedays i always print with the newest version of Cura, and often with the easy settings for the um3 and ums5.
  13. Drybox rules for long jobs (currently a 5 day job running without problems) Currently 2 rolls of Polymax pla on the printer, and in the Drybox a roll of PVA and a roll of TPU95, both very sensitive, not like the Polymax.pla.
  14. Really? So there are 2 different sides on the original glass? This is extremely important information! Never knew this. Some glasses, (i have about 5 on the UM3 and 2 on the UM5) are turned over because of chips. And the i remove the little sticker to be able to use it flat. After that i swapped the directions probably several times. Introducing a extr variable. Sander, we should have known this much sooner!
  15. Hello, i would like to change some settings (like horizontal expansion and others), and make these settings permanently in the easy default settings. is this possible? i know i can add profiles, but less is more 😉
  16. Personaly, i get the best results with dymafix. Also on um5. Just don’t use support that requires cooling, you will get into trouble. No fans!
  17. I really like the new design, and the intelligence for creating the right code for a um printer is very efficient. Only, the interface is slow, just to slow. If i compare with Simplify3D, there is a world of difference between these.
  18. Yes the autolevelling is one of my favorites also. Every print sticks. Filament detection is also a plus, and the new extruders are much easier to use. Overall i think reliability and size are the main plusses.
  19. Smithy, print finished at 14:40, and it cooled down until 18:00, so certainly cold. Tough pla .15mm, support from extruder1, 10% infill. SUPRISE (for me anyway) It was very hard to remove, i had to force my heavy scraper under the corner and had to apply a lot force. First time i encounter this on my UM5 with tough play. If i had to save the part, i would try with water first. (this is my favorite for critical parts that stick to well) So, seems that the form also has influence? And if so, i would expect it to be because the support is very large in the x and y, but very low on the z. Greetings, Rudy
  20. ok, will do this, probably tomorrow. Greetings!
  21. got a small piece to test? maybe i can help you with a test?
