Did you at least make it easy to know where to place all those window frames by having the main body stick out or something? Or did you have to very very carefully place each window?

It works very nice, good sound quality with HDMI to my Denon amp.
Only thing is the sound goes almost off once in a while, seems an issue with HDMI handshake on the Denon ... have not been able to solve it yet so if any of you people are audio experts...

There is some good info in this link. There are folks that had the same problem as you with various fixes.

My semi final eyeglasses. Carbonfil 0.125 50mm/s 248C - 3 solid support layers
This it's the test #136 (for real). Finally solved all the quality problems and specially the structural ones, because if isn't printed on this weird angle the curved support for the eyeglass temples support can break when applying force. Printed flat makes the curved frontal area quality to go to zero and printed at 90 degrees makes the lense cliparea to be too weak for the clip-on system from the opticians shop system (I wan't to avoid heat system).
Hopefully I'll have more time to print the final version. Since I forgot (again) to not read my notes and printed -10º wrong...
Final version will have 60% infill, probably 80% since carbon weights so little, and I'll print it on 0.1ish layer at 30-40mm/s to remove more imperfections. Also my wobbly x isn't helping...

Thats a nice design .. what do you do with "nose support" do you add them? I hate these big fixed plastic parts on my nose, prefer flexible ones that can rotate a bit ...
How big are the bolts you'r using ?

No bolts. Just a two part fit system. Quite neat btw. The nose area my plan it's to dual print it with flexible and also I want to insert flexible material on the weak spots to make it really tough. But that's going to take more time . Funtional beta 1 hopefully in a few days with the temples and lenses.

I see now why you might have some use for that super hard nozzle
I tested mine with XT-CF20 the other day and 100 grams of it did not cause any measurable or visible wear (!)
A TiN coated brass nozzle that I then used as a reference did not like the carbon fiber though, it is amazing how this material can wear metal nozzles..

Indeed! 50grms made the E3D brass go from flat to curve and 2h more and it was just horrible. Your nozzle it's a beast!
Btw I'm in for 700-800grms so far of carbon and zero problems. Hopefully I will someday fix all my print wobbly axis and assemble the two printers so I can trully push the 5 kilos of carbon (protopasta, cfxt and formfutura). Too many stuff to do on my list...
Edited by GuestI don't like carbon fill pla. At least the brand from proto pasta is not any stronger than Ultimaker PLA and it is not stiffer either. It has the same characteristics except it destroys nozzles and possibly also my lungs.
I haven't test the strength but I love the look and feel of XT-CF20. When it prints right it's my favorite filament. Just 2 expensive.
I have yet to test protopasta carbon but for what I saw on videos it breaks just as pla (since its half pla). Ff carbonfil prints like their easywood. It's really harder to break but also on thinner parts it breaks just as easy. When you reach a certain width it's really good and also even though it should not flex it does flex. On the eyeglass printing it at 32 degrees the glass area can hold literally a punch from up down and sides. Twist it's my next test but for that I need to assemble the glasses since that will push the structure from within. On pla this prints harder because the gazillion curves and the strength it's good but at a more heavy resoult. As soon my formfutura runs out I'll test come cfxt. The smell on formfutura it's just nothing, unless you get close to the nozzle to see then there's a bit of smell that seems like umm.. Carbon+Tar? But for example I left another test printing tonight and when I got into the room it didn't smell at all (5h print) so it's nothing like printing abs all night.

Had this model of a heart laying around for a couple of month now. But I just received my Ultimaker three weeks ago, so it became my first bigger print. Around 13 x 8 x 16 cm.
Sliced it in two halfes and clued them together. Needed a bit of sanding and a little bit of filler.
Then I just spray painted it.
Did a lot of experimenting trying to get a nice finish. And I'm really happy with the outcome although it has rather complicated shapes.

All parts were printed separately on my UM2 and then glued together. I wish it would be possible to simplify the process without compromising the quality.
Yes, it was a bit of the work but the results are nice, indeed.
