Yet another yoda.. This one was sliced in cura at 0.05mm layer height no infill, 1.2mm wall thickness. I printed at full size this time (print sitting on CD to show scale)

Thanks Florian! Yes i had retraction enabled and am using the mk6 gear.
@concreteTurtle: The whistle looks great. Does it generate sound? I tried printing a similar one (or probably the same one)..it looked good, but did not have any sound..maybe i didnt have the infill set right..

@approx - Nice Yoda! The chin and earlobes look pretty good, did you set a bridge % or use the default cura 100%? Also, which extruder design are you using with the mk6 gear, tlalexander's wade derivative?

may i ask why you printed with supporting material, the ultimaker would have handled the columns no problem and then the roof ove hand would have wrested on them...
or am i missing something... ?

Thanks Ian! Since the bottom of the model was uneven, I used support so that it would even it out..
I don't really know how to use 3d software, but I am sure folks proficient in it could even out and straighten the base

the question is ? why did the 3d modeller make it with a uneven base in the first place. maybe he was a little crazy and his hobby table was uneven, so he made the base to fit... ? :lol:

Retraction will help against the strings. The strings also connect the support to the model, making it harder to remove. The next release of Cura will feature retraction when moving from/to support if you have retraction enabled.
You could also try to lower the support material amount even more (25% or so) too see if that makes it easier to remove.

No, it is a model exported from DAZ Studio, edited in Rhinoceros and cleaned with netfabb Studio. Online (free) dinosaurs are hard to find and are mostly over-simplified or with bad meshes. I had to make the foot wider because the first layer had a too small area and could not stick well to the print bed (and, of course detached from the print bed and moved away after half an hour printing time).

Thanks Daid for the tips, I just wanted to test the "simple" mode with this example. The next dino will go through the expert mode with more playing around, with definitely less support material. In my case it was just too much of it.
Talking about support material - is there any way to solve situations within Cura where support material should start somewhere above level 0 (like this example)?
If not possible, is it somewhere on the wish-list?
It's possible, but not in simple mode. In normal mode you can choose between 3 different support options. Easy mode uses "exterior only" if you enable support. But in your case you want "everywhere".

First test for stackable boxes which use a very low amount of plastic and thus are quick to print. A bit like lego bricks, but less stable. I have some more plans for these.
A gift for a friend. Printed in Magenta from Ultimaker. If you are ordering from UM, I recommend getting a 0.75kg roll of Magenta, it's a really funky color that stands out. You get a sweet taste in your mouth by just looking at it.

what is really cool is, i have the printer in the celler and have a webcam hooked up and live feed being sent to my office computer upstairs.
So as I work and prepair more models, i can monitor the activity of the ultimaker very cool
