A miniature landscape I did as one of my first 3D prints. I've always had a fascination with creating worlds, so when I started 3D printing this was bound to happen

  4. fly agaric (Amanita muscaria)

In the zip-file there are two different files. The difference based on the design of the cap and stipe. To get the best print results, you have to print the model upside down (hat on the printing plate) with the support type "touching buildplate".
For painting the cap, please take a brush ;-).

  10. mikado

Based on one 3D printed element I have build this structure.
Every variant you make is an unique one, or attach them together to make one bigger piece.
ps I noticed some similarities with the work of Arne Quinze in this one.

  12. cube/6inch (concept design)

The other day I found this ergonomic module to create different types of furniture.
The module is a 15cm/6inch cube that you could print out perfectly, you glue the modules together into whatever you need, and that's that.
but I noticed the current printing time for each volume and material cost and I simply don't have the time/ finance to try this one out.
So I guess this is more a futuristic concept design, intended for when the printing speed of 3D printing is increased :-)

  13. Snazzy two-color bowtie!

I had a volleyball tournament coming up, and as our team usually dresses up for them, I decided to make myself a unique bowtie to wear! And what better way than to 3D print it?! I printed this beautiful model by heytiger on Thingiverse that clips on to a shirt button. I achieved the dual color effect by using Cura's "Pause at height" plugin. Using Cura's layer view slider, I found which layer the "lip" of the bowtie ended, and paused there, parking the head in the back right corner of the printer. The plugin worked beautifully, and I swapped the black colorFabb PLA/PHA with some white at about 50% through the print. After it finished (in about 3 hours), I finished off the top with some Sharpie - classy, I know. At the end of it, I had a fantastic print that got quite a bit of compliments at the tourney! Awesome!

  14. the artist

this is a 3D printed scale model that is questioning function vs art with the use of the archetypes of a table/chair and maybe explains the role of an artist within a society.

  23. Community Contest, part 6 | Don't trust atoms, they make up everything

Time to learn about stuff we use daily without knowing much about. Yeah it melts at certain temperatures, depending on the manufacturer, or has a certain glass temperature so the heated bed must be this hot. But what is PLA actually?
Well, PLA is Polylactic acid. Poly stands for many, so many actic acids, you'd say? Today Wikipedia told me it does not use correct Organic nomenclature, as defined by the IUPAC, as it is not a polyacid, but rather a polyester.
Instead of further citing Wikipedia, have a read yourself, it's quite interesting: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polylactic_acid
So PLA is a chain with many copies of the link I printed, as can be seen in the picture. As the picture explains, the green are the Hydrogen atoms, grey are the oxygen atoms and blue are the carbon atoms, sadly I didn't have enough time to print that with colorfabb Carbonfill :(

Remixed from Parametric Gimbal, prints already assembled http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:100362 by Bluebie.
Printed on Ultimaker 2 w/ 1.75mm ColorFabb filament. Center ring shrank too much when using a 0.4mm shell thickness . Switched to 0.8mm shell thickness and model printed fine. May require some adjustment to get a smooth spin.
