  1. A while ago I was looking at this: http://diamant-polymer.de/en/products/dichtol/ Have not tried it, but they also use it for 3d printed (metal) stuff. Could be interesting..
  2. keep to 15.04, or 15.02 if this works for you, this is the most stable version. 15.09 is still beta.
  3. Maybe try Cura 15.04 to see if you have the same problem there? And can you see something in first layer in the Layer view? What is the thickness of the base plate? and your first layer thickness?
  4. it looks good compared to the David, in quality (same) and price (25%) because it comes with a turntable. I guess reading the forums will give you more practical information about the details (in promotion movies everything looks great...). If you are handy you can use your own camera/projector for the David setup, just buy the software dongle, that might save you some $$. I have the David SLS2 setup and like it very much. Don't mind the manual rotations, because it is up to the model anyway, to judge which parts to scan for the best result. What might be something to find out is the size of the scanned object: the turntable goes up to 200mm and without turntable 700mm size. The difference is that the Einscan has its projector and camera fixed in one box, but the David has them separated. This means that for bigger objects the projector and camera can be moved to get a better focus/angle. If your object are all in the 200mm range, I guess The Einscan-S will be a good choice,,
  5. this is the post from the Skanect forum about the Kinect V2 https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/skanect/j8-hqrZIu-U V2 is little better detail but problems with eyes, hair, black, shiny etc.
  6. but Skanect never went on with the new Kinect, they couldn't get it to work.
  7. I keep this rule in mind: leave a one layer gap. If you print in 0.1 layers leave a 0.1 gap, so that the print skips one layer before printing the next. The bridge layer will 'drop' onto the support but can be removed easily.
  8. I love the metal filaments, in a way most of the filled filaments, because the layers are hardly visible anymore and the look and feel (weight) of the object is much better. Not so much 'a plastic' anymore.
  9. Another filament that prints well is Plasticz, it comes in 1 kg rolls and costs € 19,35 (instead of 750 gr.). http://www.plasticz.nl/pla/ I tested a piece of grey metallic and must say that it prints nice en crisp, no stringing. compared another print with a different brand, and especially this print gave me 'blisters' on top (temperature thingy, can be solved with adjusting speed and temp., I guess caused by the 'metallic' fill, other colors were fine) Two prints, same gcode, right Plasticz, no 'blister' on top
  10. bronzefill and copperfill print really nice, less layers visible because of the added fillers. And the extra weight is very nice too! Looks not like 'a plastic' any more but more serious.. Could be suitable for bolder jewelry models.
  11. this is pla, but like I said, it is an old picture, from 2012, when the retraction setting didn't exist... If I would print this now the strings would be gone. But what would still be there are the irregularities in the lowest curve, close to the bed. And there will always be a flat side underneath, because it would not stay. But each design needs its specific approach, some easy, some more difficult.
  12. In Cura 15.04 or older: icon top right -View Mode- Overhang
  13. do the squares correspond with parts of your design higher up?
  14. yes, try one of your designs to print it with 3dHubs, look on their map if there is someone in the neighborhood. this is an old picture, before retraction was a setting, but you see that the printhead goes from left to right. Also to let a ring stay on its small footprint was a pain and the end result is never a smooth curved bottom. Personally I think that delicate details as gem support are too difficult. But try that in a test print. For your needs a sla printer would be better (liquid resin instead of melted wire)
  15. duh.. this is because of the skirt length....
  16. I saw this line and looked at it, skirt was set to 1, which is apparently the default because I started with a global normal profile. Reset the skirt, but noticed that it stayed at 1, although the preview shows 3. Threw away the customized profiles, and now it is gone.. Changing the skirt lines to 1 or 2 doesn't change the preview, it always displays 3.

  19. yeh, it will be trial and error, and be persistent. It is not easy, take the time to learn your printer, it is also a lot of fun and addictive.... Dual extrusion is still a bridge too far for me, but the results look promising..
  20. I still find it difficult to get 'good' jewelry prints from the Ultimaker. Small details are fragile and almost all prints need support. For example: a ring prints best lying down, printing a continuos circle, but then you have one flat side. Printing it standing up is a pain because the printhead jumps from side to side. It will take a lot of patience to get things right and keep your limitations in mind to avoid disappointment. (that is why I use it for prototypes..)

  23. relax, people are trying to help here... nallath is thinking with us... workflow: autoslice will be on by default, as it is a nice feature. If you don't want it, you are probably already working with layer view because settings are being changed. If you want to make a lot of changes, slicing is paused/disabled. If you want to see the changes in layer view, enable slicing again, repeat if needed. When satisfied, save.
  24. ok, that worked, to get a file opened, but as soon a change is made, simple, like infill% or layerthicknes, the damned thing crashes..
