Five weeks ago we started adding a free Olsson Block set with every sold Ultimaker 2 and Ultimaker 2 Extended. We'll continue doing this for a few weeks more (all the way till Christmas!!) because we believe it is a great example of what the community contributes to Ultimaker. And the Olsson Block can definitely be a valuable addition to your Ultimaker. You guys carry a lot of knowledge, helped countless of users and continue to contribute to the Ultimaker ‘Universe’. Obviously, you deserve something for this too! So for the next few weeks we will continue to host a 3D printing contest. Every week we’ll have a new winner who wins a special edition Olsson Block set. It contains the same set of nozzles we share with our new users, but especially for you we have added the 1.0mm nozzle too, for the super fast prints! To draw you the full picture, it contains the: Olsson Block itself 0.25mm nozzle 0.4mm nozzle 0.6mm nozzle 0.8mm nozzle 1.0mm nozzle a screwdriver and socket to swap nozzles. CHALLENGE This week we want to pay a tribute to where it all started; the Ultimaker Original. On YouMagine we found a model by Mitra, now we can all own a little Ultimaker Original! Photograph the mini Ultimaker Original in your own 3D print corner and upload it in the Print section. We'll choose a winner based on print quality* and originality. (Tip: Printed in woodfill and extra miniature reels of filament is extra points, *Print quality: no stringing, snaps together, a miniature print on the bed, filament going to the head. The other rules of the contest are pretty simple. Please read them carefully. RULES - We know how you all love hacking and modifying, so we have only one guideline: it must be printed on an Ultimaker. Besides that.. everything goes! - Entries must be uploaded in the Print section. (Fill out your settings if you want. The winner agrees to share his settings at the end of the week). - Share the link and a picture of your upload in this thread. - Everyone can participate in every contest, but you can only win once. - There will be 2 prizes. - Photoshop is not allowed. - You can participate until Sunday midnight CEST. EXTRA INFORMATION - We'll choose a winner based on print quality and originality. Print quality: no stringing, snaps together, a miniature print on the bed, filament going to the head. (Tip: Printed in woodfill and extra miniature reels of filament is extra points, - We will announce each weeks winner on Monday in the corresponding thread on our forum, on our Twitter feed and Instagram!
WHAT DO I NEED TO PRINT?
You can download the model of our Ultimaker Original on here on YouMagine. Upload your entry here. Share your entry here below. Alrighty then.. Ready? Set? Print awaaaaaay!

I got distracted yesterday, my apologies. As soon as I am in the office this today I'll fire it up!

.. there is only 1 prize, isn't there And yeah. I thought I also replied, but maybe that was in a different thread. Anyway, it doesn't work. There are difficulties with the cartridge heater. I have to talk to @3DCase what he prefers to do with his prize if he doesn't have an Ultimaker 2 (what his profile suggests).

@Titus, Ohh kwekkeboom, those are nice. Thanks for sharing your information! @Dim3nsioneer, postponing a contest until we have at least 2 valid contributions doesn't sound fair to the first poster. We start a contest with a certain list of criteria, and we can't just throw them overboard. These contests are all for the Olsson Block, once the promotion is over I am planning to keep doing these contests but over a longer period of time (and with a different prize). If I bend the rules for Titus now, next week I'll have to bend the rules because it wasn't printed on a 0.4, or because it was uploaded after the contest expired. I don't want to make exceptions because that will make things complicated in the future, and in a way isn't fair to the people who did live up to the rules. I even used bold letters in the first post to read the rules carefully. But @Titus, we have a next contest starting today. I am hoping on your contribution again! And @Dim3nsioneer.. will we see some of your talent as well?
-
Congratulations ... @3DCase Officially, we would like to refrain from approving drug-use but since @Titus missed rule #2: - Entries must be uploaded in the Print section. (Fill out your settings if you want. The winner agrees to share his settings at the end of the week) you won this contest fair and square (I hope the bitterballen were good though!) Again I would like to underline to read the rules carefully. Every week we see some cool entries pass by, but not all are uploaded in the print section. (Unfortunately), I have to apply the rules, and since this means there was only 1 official entry we can't award the 2 prizes. We'll move the extra prize to another contest in the future. The next contest will start within a few hours, stay tuned..

Thanks for mentioning, and for the edit I don't believe the old (2014) pictures can be enlarged.

As Ultimaker grows our network grows as well. Our latest development meant starting a partnership with our Canadian friends, you may know as Redicubricks. They have started as community members and are now reselling Ultimaker products as our very first Canadian reseller, congratulations! You will be able to find them in their store shop3D.ca. They are our first official reseller in Canada. Shop3D.ca has stock and will ship next day from Brampton Ontario They offer full service, warranty, support and OEM parts for all of Canada And maybe most important of all, they started out community members! Say hi to, or congratulate @Valcrow Knowing they come from our community you can be assured they have the expertise. And last but not least, they have a physical store you can visit with live demo's and coffee. Following the link Redicubricks, you may recognise some of their work. They have made an impressive steampunk Iron Man prosthetic hand A 3D printed Ducati 1199 Superbike A lightsaber with conclusive painting tips and last but not least a Fallout 4 mini nuke. These guys know what they are doing!

Average hours per week effective printing
SandervG replied to frederiekpascal's topic in Coffee corner
You can win one, if you participate in our Community Contest We are currently in our 4th contest, and we start a new one every Monday! -
Hi, thank you for posting on our forum! Hopefully it will be a nice turn up. Do you already have some pictures of the prints you want to talk about, or do people need to bring their own?
-
wow that is a pretty good painter. Well.. I guess it is all in the name right?

Here is the other story I was talking about. Project Seafood, super cool!

Can I use a smaller nozzle for a high resolution model?
SandervG replied to swq0603's topic in Improve your 3D prints
In your answer, what do you mean by angles, compared to overhangs? Perhaps it would make sense to add the dimension you are talking about. -
Nozzle (exterior) reverse Atomic's
SandervG replied to neotko's topic in Third party products & modifications
I used to use a paper cloth to clean the nozzle on the outside. Not gonna say it resulted in a good as new nozzle, but it was sufficient to remove any filament that was in the way. Will keep this in mind, thanks! -
Hi Mathieu, How is your process and 3D printing experience going so far? Just came across your post, and it looks like your bed is levelled to low. Especially in the back. This results in layers not sticking to the bed properly, and can be easily dragged of by a moving nozzle or string of filament. Did you know there are 3 thumbscrews on the bed? 2 in front, 1 in the back? Is there a ticking sound at your feeder? Could you describe (or record) the frequency? Good luck!

Advantages of different types of bearings
SandervG replied to JohnFox's topic in UltiMaker 3D printers
I know @Foehnsturm and @jonnybischof are building their own 3D printer so they must have done some research.. -
These blobs are probably overhangs. I have written a blog on how to improve your overhangs. It could also be heat radiant traveling up. It is hard to tell what the exact model is, but if those are completely round spheres you will probably always have some form of blobs.

Some filaments have a tendency to show this more than others. Have you tried a different color to see if that helps? Is it just color or also surface?

Build an Ultimaker2 Extended(Chinese)
SandervG replied to yangxiang1029's topic in Third party products & modifications
I see you are making it ready for Dual Extrusion. Exciting. Good luck with your project! -
Should we start a group session on the forum for people who have previously worked / owned an Ultimaker? Like a safe place to reminisce and express our feelings. @KevinMakes, you are on the same boat? How long have you been without your dose of Ultimaker?
