  1. Yup, what they said....and you won't go wrong with ColorFabb PLA/PHA. I've gone through a few spools and it's really excellent stuff (Dutch Orange is a favorite)
  2. 20 hours of assembly for one of those beasts, as I read on MatterHackers. I'll be curious of your feedback on it. The local science museum has one and my UMO does better quality prints than it...could be how they built and tuned it tho.
  3. Since I painted my UMO 'custard orange', that filament just seems like a perfect match for it to use. As @yellowshark mentioned, it seems to be a very consistent filament for good results. And on the heated bed, that shiny bottom layer looks great. Olive green? Interesting.
  4. I'm a big fan of the Dutch Orange, used two spools of it on my UMO
  5. I've had a UMO for almost 3 years. The kit is a fun build, I won't say the easiest thing I have built...but if you pace yourself and enjoy it...you will. I haven't put aside enough money to purchase an Ultimaker 2+ yet (something always comes up!)...but I can tell you that there isn't much you can't do on the UMO that the Ultimaker 2 can. You'll learn a lot (I have) and there's a lot of active users out here than can give good advice and support along the way. I wouldn't tackle the complicated things you hope to do right off. Start with putting it together, getting it tuned and calibrated, then learn how to get good, quality prints. As you gain experience, you'll feel more confident about tweaking and trying new materials, etc. p.s. I bought the dual head/extruder option when I bought my kit. I really didn't see many using that feature with great success...so it has been a nice source of spare parts over the years
  6. Well I drive a Honda so I don't have to be in those fights I noticed they are not for sale on the USA Apple site, unless I missed it?
  7. Somehow I knew this would turn into Windows versus Mac argument I hear similar arguments around the office around Chevy versus Ford.
  8. Oh wow, I think your printer came down it the same sinus infection i had What were your print settings? How was were you going? I live near Stephen King...I should show this to his staff
  9. Another vote for ColorFabb....having good, consistent results
  10. Nice, thanks for that...I'll let him know
  11. I have a co-worker wanting to spend a little money and try 3D printing and asked about this model. If you don't mind sharing your experience with him here, he'd appreciate it.
  12. Can you feel the air flow from the fan? Is it strong? Are the blades dusty? What if you slow down to 40 mm/sec and 200?
  13. Running 15.04.2, Windows 10 64-bit I had a part that has more pieces than could fit on the build plate. Did the first bunch of these pieces, all identical, with no issues. Essentially 6 "L" shaped pieces Had to wait a few hours to delete those pieces off the screen, then drag the remaining pieces onto the Cura buildplate. (Ultimaker Original w/ Heated Bed) Made sure the first few layers went well then walked away. When completed, these pieces were all sloped. Not perfectly straight, vertical pieces. No issues I can see with the printer, belts are fine. Never had this happen before. Here's how they came out.
  14. Tons of 'ghost notifications' today, FYI
  15. No speed issues here.... you must be on the black list for starting your own forum Sadly that would not surprise me or many others. But let's not digress or I'll get hate mail
  16. I've had difficulties too, very slow loading this week just going from one topic to another
  17. Impressive Imagine support material for THOSE prints!
  18. Been working on something similar but the old cpu fan I am using on the right side didn't splice over well with the Snap Locks I used (wire too thin for them, i think) Also some concern that old fan wouldn't play nice with PWM so going to order some newer ones. What model did you go with ? Here's what I have partially assembled now.
  19. I could be wrong but you do not need to make any changes at all With the UMO and UMO+ you can easily trade nozzles. I just bought a hardened nozzle to begin testing ColorFabb XT-CF20 Carbon Fiber material.
  20. I've downloaded those files and thought about printing these...you did a great job
  21. Is the filament getting stuck or tangled?
