  1. Thank you very much I think it is the community itself, I am just trying to facilitate. But I am happy to hear you feel at home here and find the help you are looking for. That is exactly how it is suppose to be. Sounds like the material could just be prone to grinding due to the slightest level of resistance. Maybe your new material works better. The perks of open filament system is that you can feel free and experiment with different types of filament, but it does not mean all materials print equally easy or good. Failure is our greatest teacher is it not? Keep us posted about your results!
  2. Hi Bez, Its true that not everything should be 3D printed. Perhaps a special grip texture could be developed for your tired, but only if the materials works of course. If PLA breaks and foam works, that is probably the better way to go. I think the Ultimaker 3 could offer you a lot, especially with the dissolvable material you have much more freedom in the parts you want to design. For now, there is no 0.8mm nozzle available though (since you said it is what you used most). Thanks for the update!
  3. Hi Sidney, Sure! Since you have already read my previous message I'll keep it short. Could you send me a DM with the following information? A colleague will get back with you and we can look for a reasonable solution together. Your contact details: What model of Ultimaker do you have now: When did you buy it: Where did you buy it: Thanks
  4. The printhead is still the printhead. But it has 2 print cores in it. It's not that hard
  5. @SandervGJust tried again, still does not work, just a picture directly from the phone, like 2 Mb. Left it uploading for 10min, but will not upload... Could you tell me what OSX you run and what browser? Thanks!
  6. Are you sure this is not a service of Siri and she would read the content out loud to you? Could you tell me if you did not by chance pushed down the numbers too long? Is this something you can replicate? ..8pm and still 61% battery? Impressive
  7. Hi Les, Thank you for your post. I don't think it is necessary to delete and reinstall Cura when your filament grinds. Is there a reason why you think it is required? Grinding of filament can have different reasons. It can be that, like you say, your extruder is too tight, or something made sure the filament couldn't move back or forth. The latter could be due to an obstruction near the hot end, like a narrow PTFE coupler or a clogged nozzle, an inconsistent diameter or dirt in your bowden tube, or maybe the filament got tangled up near the reel itself and prevented it from moving up. I would suggest to look into these reasons if you want to find out the reason. Depending on how properly you cleaned your bowden / extruder after the first clog, it could be plausible that your 2nd attempt carried dirt from your first clog in the bowden tube or nozzle. I don't have any experience with this filament myself, so I don't know if it is more prone to clogging than other filament, or how consistent the diameter is usually. Do you need any help to rule out any of the above reasons?
  8. No problem. Keeping a close watch here Anyone wants to know or share anything else about the new Ultimaker 3?
  9. I think @Neotko is the expert in this area but as what I understood being pwm'able is barely ever listed as a feature with fans. You would kinda have to find it by trial and error (correct me if I am wrong Neo!) @Nerdwarrior, same goes for you buddy .. this topic is about Ultimaker 3
  10. Kinda thinking out loud here. I have been thinking to have something like a community hall of fame where, depending on users activities and achievements, some could get highlighted. To name a few examples, GR5 for answering almost everything, Neotko for his wonderful resource-pages but also Anders Olsson as being an inventor with the Olsson Block. Perhaps it would make sense to not just feature people in the hall of fame, but also certain information, like what we are talking about now? The purpose of a forum is to preserve information, but if it gets lost due to the many posts it is not really being preserved.. How and which type of topics should be in this hall of fame should be given more thought. For example, hiding some posts which don't add anything could make sense, but it could quickly turn into a conversation impossible to follow. In case of the magnetic toolchanger, the curator would have to digest 59 pages into something readable.. that is quite a task...
  11. Hi @Ivan-lipunov, thank you for your post! The idea about having a collaboration platform has not really progressed. It was an idea I was very excited about, but haven't managed to get a lot of traction for it in the organization. I still love the idea for a place to collaborate, and in a way that already happens at many different level in this awesome community. For example, the way information and experience is being shared to help each other is also collaborating. Is this also what your first part of the post is about? Onto what level does this category offer what you are looking for? If not, it is not really clear to me for what kind of solution you are looking for instead. Are you more looking for a way to bundle information (potentially already here on the forums) so they can be accessed/found more easily? I am all in favor! (again). For example, I spoke with @Neotko to use some of his knowledge and create a few amazing tutorials on how to modify your Ultimaker Original. They can be found in our resource pages. Have you ever seen them? Do you think that is a good place for them? What other topics would you like to see? Do you have an idea on how users can be found that contain a certain level of knowledge, that would be willing to share it on such a resource page? Looking forward hearing your thoughts
  12. Hopefully this week I'll get some more insight in the new list of priorities and plans. @UltiArjan, what if you edit your post. Can you add more photo's then?
  13. Even though Carbon3D also does SLA, I am not really sure if they are in the same field as Formlabs. Aren't they insanely expensive, like you can only rent one or something? Anyway, at Ultimaker we share a philosophy that 3D printing can offer a lot to businesses, makers and society in general. But that can only be utilized if this new technology is made accessible. The Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 3 are good examples of this. We feel FDM is much closer to this philosophy than SLA. You don't need gloves to handle your prints, you don't need a technical degree to operate it and you can experiment with filaments without devastating consequences. You can even touch your print when the printhead has just passed, during printing. It is very accessible. Same goes for businesses. Companies can have expensive Stratasys machines, but hidden behind a door and only accessible after training is not really accessible. We try to offer a 3D printing solution that just stands there, and everyone can use when they need it.
  14. hahaha YES! Exactly our target group! Marketing done right!!
  15. When the source files are released you can look up these individual parts and source them yourself if you still want to upgrade your Ultimaker 2(+).
  16. Hi @Dana, @rsghowellnj and @ernestobreton, thank you for your posts. I think the overall response you have received is pretty accurate, in no way will your purchase of an Ultimaker 2+ will become obsolete or outdated. Both machines will continue to operate next to each other, both offering a different set of features for a different type of users. And both will continue to receive support from Ultimaker. So does the Ultimaker Original+ for that matter. But maybe, you do need dual extrusion or want to take advantage of the connectivity the Ultimaker 3 offers. In that case we could look into the possibilities together with you. Did you buy your Ultimaker 2+ after September 15th? At Ultimaker customer satisfaction is very important to us, so within reasonable terms I am pretty sure there are still options to explore. If you are open to this I would like to ask if you could send me a DM with the following. A colleague will come back with you and we can go from there; Your contact details: What model of Ultimaker do you have now: When did you buy it: Where did you buy it: About the solution Creatr offers, I have not heard any positive feedback from it so I would definitely not recommend that. If you are interested in doing some handy work yourself, have you looked at this modification?
  17. You are totally right! There is a contest coming up pretty soon, I'll let you know when it is live. I wanted to create a more long-term concept for the contests, but I kinda got overwhelmed with the Ultimaker 3 launch. When the dust has settled down a bit I will collect my different thoughts and share them. In the meantime, if you have any thoughts, this topic is still open
  18. yea I agree it is a bit disappointing. It is something that has been going back and forth in (almost) being solved but it has been very difficult to fix. I have never stopped trying to get it fixed, but as you probably understand the Ultimaker 3 introduction on the web received quite some priority lately.
  19. There is a fair chance there will be something like a maintenance pack. Although the contents are not yet specified. However, I highly doubt these could be used as a starting-point to start hacking. You would really need to replace a lot of crucial parts so a hack is really ambitious (not something I would recommend). It would probably consist of some print cores and other parts, which are useless without the head itself.
  20. BTW: I think we are on the wrong thread... - Yes, please stay on topic and if you want to discuss @Foehnsturm's (pretty amazing) approach to dual extrusion, please go here.
  21. If you contact your reseller you should be able to request just the single feeder. ( I am not convinced buying it in separate parts is the only way to go. I think ready and assembled should also be an option.)
  22. Not sure about specifically having print cores for higher temps, that would also rely on which materials become available etc. But the concept is build upon being modular and having the option to have different print cores for different materials. (when they need a specific design. For example, the current AA / build print core is suited for a range of materials like ABS, PLA, Nylon and CPE).
  23. Hi @Wisar, Coming from a source which does know more - If you want the latest updates in regard of your order the best place to get this from would be your reseller. They have your Ultimaker 3 on stock and they will ship it to you. Before we/they send Dorothy into the wild, we want to make sure she is all ready and prepared to take on the world. And that the entire network is ready to answer any questions following her arrival. This takes a few days, so estimation is that we start shipping beginning of November. So two to six weeks sounds very reasonable. I'm looking forward to see what you will be making once you have welcomed her into your home. A whole new era is starting, with a whole new set of possibilities! Let me know if you have any further questions
  24. Hi guys, wow, that was quite a read. I just landed and made it back home and I am now busy going through all the posts on the forums. Happy to read most of you are excited to see and try out the new Ultimaker 3. I have been able to use it a couple of times already, and it is just a pleasure to see it work. I'm sorry to hear there are also a few users who had different expectations from the announcement. Hopefully by sharing all of our experiences we can all eventually reach a mutual understanding why we are all here at this point today. It seems there is also quite a lengthy conversation going on about the feasibility of owning an Ultimaker. For some, it works out better than others. I guess it depends on what it is you are making exactly, what your expectations are and onto what level you take 'design for 3D printing' into account. Just like any other manufacturing method, it has its guidelines which should be taken into account. Which does not mean it is only half of a solution or something, you just have to abide by some rules in order to benefit from its fruits. Another returning topic is the old promise of installing a dual extrusion add-on on the Ultimaker 2. I think it has been fairly clear why we did not pursue this. But allow me to explain again. The result would have been a product which was either too complex for most users to install with satisfying results, or an add-on so expensive it would be unreasonable to release. We totally understand, that the other side of the coin, breaking a promise, is in no way a 'good solution'. But releasing an add-on under the just mentioned circumstances would have been even worse. Your user experience and satisfaction matters to us. Greatly. And building a good product is one way to get there. We have chosen to keep the Ultimaker 3 recognizable as an Ultimaker 3D printer, as it stands for reliability and a workhorse. But do not be fooled, it is completely different on the inside. Transporting the printhead with all corresponding features to an Ultimaker 2+ would be equally unrealistic as why we did move forward with our initial developments. For those who are interested and don't mind getting there hands 'dirty' (I have read a few people say; 'we will make it work') there are users who live by that same philosophy, like @Foehnsturm. A very good alternative I think. Maybe it is inspirational? If you have any further questions about this, or the Ultimaker 3 in general, or when you just got an Ultimaker 2+, feel free to reach out to me! We have and will always try to look for a mutual and reasonable solution Thank you for your time reading this. And just like half of the other posts I have read.. it turned out a little bit longer than I initially planned
  25. Hi Everyone, thanks for the feedback! I have shared the feedback about the font, lets see what comes out. @Daid, good to see you found some time to get back on the forums. Always so much fun The thing about the font has supposedly something to do with windows too. Are you all running windows who see it any less than perfect? It is pretty high on our list to get that fixed, along with some other things. There were also some things addressed during the launch on the 18th, I have requested a list of what was implemented so you know what we have been doing
