  1. I don't think there has been a way to go around the news... the Ultimaker 3 made its appearance! Ultimaker HQ launched the Ultimaker 3 in , and alongside there were 17 local launches in collaboration with our partners! It was a big and memorable day for us full with celebrations. But there is a chance you could not make it to one of these launch events and you haven't had a chance to see the Ultimaker 3 in real life yet. That is about to change! During the next Ultimaker Session we want to introduce you to the newest member in our family, the Ultimaker 3, and give you the chance to see it in action. With this new 3D printer comes a lot more than what you would expect at first sight, and even Cura has been improved with a ton of new features. Getting curious already? Do you want to know more about the Ultimaker 3 new features after seeing ? Make sure to come by the new Ultimaker Session and we'll tell you all about the possibilities that are made accessible in 3D printing.3 of our pro support engineers will be happy to tell you more about: - The Ultimaker 3, what are the new features. - Cura, how to slice for dual extrusion. - PVA, what to keep in mind and how to dissolve it in water. Date: 28 - 11 - 2016 Location: ProtoSpace Utrecht PROGRAM 17.00 - 18.00 Arrival. You can also order food (10 euro pp, cash or card) 18.30 - 20.00 Ultimaker 3 explained. 20.00 - 21.00 Hang around and have a chat! We'd appreciate it if you would RSVP using Meetup: http://ultim.kr/2eXGeE1
  2. Hi @Cor3ys, I was wondering how it was going with your Ultimaker 3. Your prints look really great! Did you already get a reply from your reseller?
  3. Hi Muffinkiller86, Thank you for sharing your experiences. PVA is a different material than PLA, and it also behaves different while printing. You are now adding this new material to your print experience, so you have to get to know it a little bit. You should not use the same settings as you have been doing for PLA when building support structures. Did you already take a look at this thread?
  4. @Ronan, how did it go with your Ultimaker in the closet?
  5. Thanks Neo for your great tips, this has been an interesting read. @Zwakie, how is your Ultimaker 3 running now? I will pass on the feedback about the shipment and your cables so it can be taken into consideration!
  6. I believe Ultimaker actually used their own Ultimaker 2+'s to prototype parts for their UM3! And it's kind of hard to beat Ultimaker when it comes to making awesome stuff...... We did, and we even wrote a story about it
  7. Hi @Zwakie, Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums Do you remember if your Ultimaker 3 detected your PVA during your first print? (And it is always inspiring if you can share some photo's of what you are making!) The filament you are trying to load, is that official Ultimaker filament? That came with your Ultimaker 3? Perhaps it would help if you posted a photo of the filaments. You see, for the reading there should be a chip on the filament, but also the NFC-chip on the reelholder. Third party filament for example, it will not read if it does not have the chip. About simplify3D, you should check out this post. I believe simplify 3D is not yet structured for the Ultimaker 3. So it may produce a gcode which is not tailored for the Ultimaker 3. But I think it should see the USB-stick. What happens when you go to the menu, hit print, what do you see?
  8. Good to hear it is all working fine, and congratulation on the first customer order! Anything you can share, on what you are making? Congratulations on the first order-print!
  9. Hi @cstcyr, thank you for your message. Do you have any idea on what kind of thing you want to change on your Ultimaker? Are you looking for different fans, different bed (less levelling maybe?), make it more quiet, or even change it to 1.75mm filaments (this is a tricky mod). Check this page for some more inspiration, that has been build in collaboration with our community.
  10. Hi @Eros, perhaps it would also help to set the right expectations if you could share with us what type of maintenance you had to do. Like has been stated a few times already, the Ultimaker 2 was a good machine but the Ultimaker 2+ which it turned into, was a more reliable machine which was also more easy to maintain. Perhaps some of the things you ran into, could have been avoided. Or perhaps not. Depending on how you use the machine, the maintenance can also vary. So by sharing what you ran into previously, could help us present you a more clearer picture. That said, the run down given by Korneel and Didier is absolutely true. For your models, printing with PVA sounds like a must. It works really well on an Ultimaker 3 with both PLA and Nylon. (some even prefer Nylon over PLA). Keep in mind that currently it comes with a 0.4 nozzle in the print core, but other print cores should become available later too.
  11. Hi! Well, that really depends on what your definition of good is. What do you want a 3D printer to do? Does it depend on reliability? Price? Perhaps there are features you really value and someone else doesn't. When you talk about precision, do you also take speed into account, or on what values do you define precision? Some more information would help to put together an answer.
  12. Your Ultimaker fell of the table?? oh boy! You can consider replacing a belt if you start to see more slack in them. If you frequently see black 'dust' under your motors it could also be an indication to replace your belt at some point. The replacing will not remove the dust, it is parts of your belts rubbing against your pulley.. but it can affect the quality of the belt. You should take a look at the alignment of your rods, when there is a lot of dust. This is not related to printing hours.
  13. And if you have some examples of what you are planning on making, that would probably also help. What kind of materials are you planning on using? Ultimaker is known for its high quality prints and reliability, and we were not planning on choosing a different direction for the Ultimaker 3.
  14. Well it is becoming colder outside.. gotta pick up some hobby now that we spend more time indoors right?
  15. Being swapped out tomorrow! Reseller very cooperative (3DGBIRE). Probably helped that it had the good graces to die so quickly. Awesome, fast response and good service. Will you go by with your Ultimaker 3 or will you receive a new screen by the mail and install it yourself?I hope it was not Dorothy who went temporarily blind? Did you also mention with your reseller that you did not get the NFC chip to work?
  16. Thanks! We know about the bold part, which becomes normal after an edit (where you might not even edit anything). We also learned that, for example, this was happening on my computer, but Matthijs didn't see it. Until he logged in as me. So that was strange, we are looking into this. About the two notifications, were there actually two posts?
  17. In regard of unplugging cables from the electronics, or just messing with the electronics in general; some more precautions should be taken than what you are might used too. The Ultimaker 3 electronics are very sensitive to ESD, the Olimex board in particular. So if you want to work with the electronics, make sure you wear for example a wristband like this one to discharge / ground yourself. Wearing such a wristband doesn't mean nothing can go wrong while meddling with the electronics, but the risk of ESD is reduced.
  18. Hi Yoter, thank you for your updates. Please let us know if the problem indeed lied with the motors. Are you also going to enable more direct cooling on your electronics, besides replacing the motor?
  19. There's an online guide, that's what i used to setup the first one, and then setup the 3 other's. Only thing is filament recognition isn't working... I plugged the antenna properly, i'm using Ultimaker chipped filament... so idk... I had to tell it manually what it was. Hi Ronan, thank you for your message. How do you mean it is not working? Are you sure you have plugged the cable in correctly? Have you contacted a support team for assistance? Looking forward hearing from you! Yes I plugged the white cable in. It's not working on any of the 4 UM3's we bought. Meaning i must be doing something wrong... so will check again today. hm, that is indeed suspicious. Did you follow the instructions that came with the Ultimaker 3? If you can't figure it out, make sure to reach out to your resellers technical support department.Alternatively, perhaps we can also help. It could be interesting for future users who might have a similar issue if the solution could be found here too. Looking forward hearing from you!
  20. hahaha some are really hilarious!!
  21. Hi @Wishbone, thank you for your feedback. Was the rest of the assembly straight forward? Thanks again for sharing, I will pass it on as feedback to check how this can be implemented clearly. In your case, your Ultimaker definitely produces a sound you do not want to hear, but it does not cause any physical harm to your Ultimaker. What you hear is the motor skipping steps, and after a few seconds it stops trying. Have you already tried to make a print after the upgrade? Have a great day!
  22. Excellent print, in case the regular benchie was not challenging enough It looks knitted indeed.

  24. I have no idea about your shifted prints, so just out of interest: Why do you suspect the end stops? AFAIK the end stops are only used during "homing", but completely ignored during a print. Or do you use a customized firmware? Are you printing from sd-card or is the USB cable connected? As far as I know when you manually trigger an end stop you see immediately in the movement of your printhead during a print. I don't think it is being ignored during a print. I am not able to visually inspect your end stops, but given the clean cut in your shift, and perhaps the age of your Ultimaker (rubbing of pulleys, maybe a cable broke), I am inclined to think the problem lies with your end stops. Curious to see what your new ones bring to the table!
