  1. What about regular tape on top of your heated bed or adhesive sheets. A (maybe small) factor to take into account, that on the back it may be a little bit warmer than in the front if you don't close off your Ultimaker? If you want to rule out any inconsistencies, you could do a second test and use the adhesives on the back that before were on the front.
  2. Thanks, how did the other print turn out? Similar or did it work as expected? It could be that this was just an unfortunate one-time event, and not a structural issue. How did the wipe tower look during your first print? If it was not holding up as supposed to, and some filament was dragged into your print, it could have caused this blob and its consequences. The prime tower is optional, some users think it is necessary, but our materials team is trying to work towards highly tailored profiles which don't require it anymore. Close to no oozing. However, this would be tailored on Ultimaker filaments and defaults profile. Feel free to use other materials, but then you may want to tweak the material profiles a little bit. Even though the layer adhesion between PLA and PVA is pretty good, it is usually the reason when a tower breaks. 'could the clump knock this of concentricity?' That could be possible yes, if it really does not want to budge. I can send you my email address if you want to send over the STL, and we could do a print here.

  4. Hi Geoff, Thank you for your reply. When you are in Cura, on the field with the visual representation on the left, there is an eye-icon. Click it, and select 'Layers'. That will you the opportunity to see if perhaps there is something going on at the point where this blob was formed. Did you try any other prints? Could you include a full picture of what the print is suppose to look at?

  6. We have replaced the search a few months ago into google search. I have heard a lot of positive feedback about this since. @Amedee, if you have not tried it I would like to invite you and give it a try. Let me know what you think. In regard of navigation/pagination, that is also a point of annoyance to me and have repeatedly requested a fix. It is pretty high on the 'real' to do list now, so I expect some progress in this regard soon (like around 2/3 weeks). Of course I'll let you know when it has been fixed. Our apologies that it took so long to get addressed. Happy to hear you still like the people though, and hopefully you keep the feedback coming!
  7. That is approximately when we informed you that Ultimaker filed its first patent. We explained how this was a necessity given the new corporate market we enter, but at the same time we would not have it influence who we are. We will try to bring more openness into the traditionally closed enterprise market, but we can not do this blindfolded and completely vulnerable. We committed to use our patents defensively only. This means we will not use our patents in a way to lock down innovation, but to protect our product, future and employees from being an easy victim when it comes to strategic lawsuits. Together we can stand strong. We are exploring options to join a patent pool. This should add more weight to our commitment and improve our strategy for defensive use. There are a couple of interesting options, however in the specific field of 3D printing these are pretty scarce. It would be more valuable to Ultimaker if the patents we would have access to defensively, would actually apply to our hypothetical aggressor. And unfortunately, the range of options that make sense is pretty limited. For that reason, another option could also be to start a patent pool ourselves. Other 3D printing parties who care about keeping innovation accessible, but prefer to have some level of protection over their business and future, could join. But since this does not exist yet, this comes with its own set of risks and would take time and efforts to grow a chance of becoming viable. A second patent was just confirmed. After the first patent about Active bed leveling, a second patent has surfaced. This patent describes the absence of any temperature measurement device in a new inductive heated print-head. Heating up a hot end through induction is not new and not patented by Ultimaker. But we have discovered that a special formulated nozzle material can determine the nozzle temperature without an additional temperature sensor, in combination with an inductive coil. Curie temperature is used as protection against overheating. With using different shaped induction coils and different geometry (material and form) nozzle bodies, the desired temperature will be reached within a second or two, will be accurate and won't fluctuate. By using different combinations of nozzle body geometry (material and form) and an inductive coil, the produced heat can be controlled to match any 3D printing material. For a full description, drawings and claims the patent can be found here. Learning something new. When we informed everyone about our first patent, there were some understandable concerns expressed. In most cases, time will be the only one who can tell us how it all played out. But luckily, today, there is also a silver lining noticeable about this strategy. Being that through this patent a part of our developments is being shared with our public which otherwise you would most likely not have known about. It is an interesting peek in our kitchen, you get a glance of what is going on. A dedicated page where we will specify the published patents, will follow soon.   8. Not a trick question, I've read somewhere above that you also used PVA, hence i've asked what you printed with it since indeed your prints did not look like they needed it. But it seems to be gone now. I see Erin also referred to it in her first reply. What do you mean by print core 2? Is that the one in the second slot? Or is it BB? Are you using AA or BB which is giving you these results? Did you also check the NFC connection at the electronics? I would recommend to put the tension of the feeder back in the middle which should offer you the best tension. Have you made any attempts to clean a print core after a print failed? Dunno if any of these tips help since you already requested the return of the printer. I'm sure if we can find the root of your problems we have the solution and you should find yourself happily 3D printing soon!

  11. Hi @Geoff, thank you for your message and welcome to the forums. It is normal that some small particles of PVA will be scattered around your print, but not 'chunks' like on your photo's. Did the print finish successfully? Can you share some of the settings you have used in Cura? Was it Ultimaker filament? Did you check your print in Cura layer view to see if there were any oddities? Looking forward hearing from you!
  12. Dear @KHN, thank you for your message and welcome to the forums! Do you have an olsson block installed or do you have the regular heater block? The olsson block can most easily be identified by a swappable nozzle. The heaterblock should have a screw on it. This screw secures both the cartridge heater and the PT100. If you loosen this, you should be able to remove the cartridge heater and PT100. You may need to wiggle them a little bit to get them out. Put the new ones in, and put back the screw to secure your new heater cartridge and PT100. Here are some more instructions to help you. Good luck!

If your NFC doesn't work, which it should and should be fixed, but if it is not now, are you sure that you are not printing Nylon with the PLA profile because your Ultimaker does not recognize the different material? Have you tried making changes to the tension in your feeder to battle under extrusion? Were these cubes printed with support of PVA?

  16. Its probably because it is the first category that presents itself to post your question in. So more a UX originated issue. I'll file a request to make the field empty, and that a user has to choose the dedicated category. edit; it seems like the suggested category may vary depending on where you are and what you have visited. But in any case, an empty field would be better.
  17. Hi @Tiger91, thank you for your post. I see in the title you own an Ultimaker 3. You can also add this information to your profile, so it is mentioned underneath your name. Is there a reason why you would not want to print this with PVA supports? If you insist on using PLA supports where your build materials is also PLA, I would suggest to use default print profiles for PLA. Install print core AA in slot 2, and make sure your Cura set up is identical. Based upon a standard profile, you could try these changes and see how they influence your support and the remaining surface: Support line width: 0.28mm Support pattern: Zigzag Support overhang angle: 60º Support line distance: 1mm Support Z distance 0.2mm Support distance priority: Z overrides X/Y Support horizontal expansion 0.5mm Do not enable support interface. Hopefully this works!
  18. There are also people who use some PVA-slurry as an adhesive on the bed. Perhaps this is something how you can still use it? You won't save much on a glue-stick, but PVA by itself comes with its challenges to store it so it stays good over time, and connecting two ends and make it strong so it can pass the feeder, and no thicker, so it can pass the bowden tube, sounds very challenging.

  21. Well every search relies on the user of using the right keywords when it is searching for something. No search engine can perform magic. In this case, if you are looking for what the best settings are for PetG for your Ultimaker 2, I found the right thread offered to me on #2 when searching for: PetG settings Ultimaker 2. Why you were getting so many user profiles is probably because a lot of people have listed their equipment (Ultimaker 2) in their profile, and this shows up in the search results. Which I agree, is not ideal. If you would search for 'PETG Settings' the results immediately look very different (and you get the same results by the way). So, I guess every search engine stands or falls with the use of keywords. Google search is in this regard no different.
  22. Let's determine if it is indeed the slider blocks, or perhaps something else. We have made arrangements with every reseller that if a user checks in with a crack we will give him the help they need and replace the slider blocks. Indeed, with black ones. There are some nuances to the story, that it's not the case that white slider blocks are by definition doomed or broken. There can be an increased risk they show a crack over time. We took our responsibility to inform and supply our partners, so everyone affected can be helped as soon as possible. Sending out slider blocks to everyone would be a much bigger operation, which cost significantly more resources from every direction, and would affect people who don't even need it. Potentially resulting in an increase in demand for technical support during installment, which results in more technical support, when it was not even necessary in the first place. We did our best to lay the foundation for everyone who needs help, to get it as soon as possible.
