  1. I don't know, is it too hard to suggest this as a feature without sounding like a nag? ;-) There are lots of things that may not be too hard to implement, but there is a limited amount of time. Ask nicely, and make sure the usecase or usability improvement is clear, and it may get implemented. Cookies are not even required anymore?.. what happened?
  2. Do both laptops run on the same OS? If so, I think it should work. Otherwise, I think not. But perhaps @Nallath could confirm or correct me.
  3. What you should look for, or ask yourself, is it still labeled as food safe after it has been 3D printed? (heated, molten, maybe even burnt, through a hot (dirty?) nozzle, layers in your 3D print).
  4. It has been a busy day today! Besides a release of a new Beta Cura 2.5 (of which we are very curious to hear what you think!) we also released a new firmware for the Ultimaker 3. I know this is officially a hardware category, but I figured everyone here would care most about this firmware. What can you expect? Adding missing features (compared to Ultimaker 2). Adding diagnostic features to assist support / repair. Adding features for future improved system integration. Fixing critical bugs. Improving user flow. Some of my favorite improvements are that you can now change material during printing and the ability to set the lighting brightness like on the Ultimaker 2. There are also some pretty interesting added diagnostic features, high-value fixes and some more generic changes. Curious? Read more about this new firmware here. Do you need help updating your firmware? Yes? check out this guide on our resource pages.
  5. It is indeed not for everyone. I think this works better, and it suits us better too Curious to hear what you think of this beta!
  6. Hi @smartavionics, great to hear from you and thank you for your contributions! It is awesome to hear from those who have made a contribution.
  7. Hi, We have exciting news to share! Cura 2.5 Beta is here Just like always, we put in a lot of hard work to make your 3D print experience even better. And now we would like to know what you think of it. After all, it is because of you why we do the things we do. And your feedback makes our software even better. Previously, we have done some closed Beta-testing using a tool called Asana and a smaller group of testers. But we never really felt comfortable in this routine. We feel we could do a better job collecting feedback and involving more testers via our forums. So I am really excited to see how it will go! If there is anything I have learned, it is that you guys are not shy of providing feedback. So I have high hopes! Testing would become a lot easier if you had an idea what to test. Besides the default features of course. What to expect. My personal favorites are, more speed, auto-scale off by default and a pretty fancy new layer view for computers that support OpenGL 4.1. For a full list of changes, here is the changelog. And another interesting discovery can be made! When selecting your print cores, to your surprise you may find some new print cores: 0.8 print cores! They are not out yet, but have made their way into Cura 2.5 Beta. When selecting two AA 0.8 print cores, you get to choose between 3 profiles. - Draft print - Very draft print - Super draft print I got the confirmation that these names were generated 'on purpose', so someone would come up with a better name. Or perhaps it was just a lack of coffee. In any case, I am pretty sure we can come up with some better descriptive names that suggest a difference in draftiness. How would you call them? Ok, want to give it a try? Download it here! Let us know what you think An important footnote: When upgrading Cura from an older version (Cura 2.4 or below), the configuration settings might be overwritten. Back up your configuration folder before installing Cura 2.5 beta. Learn how to find the folder here.
  8. Hi @Ahmedabrouk, great print. Congratulations! It kinda looks like it is vapor smoothened in some way, is it? I was wondering, since you posted it in modifications and hacks, did you do any modifications to get this result, or is it probably better posted in the 'what have you made?' category?
  9. After watching the video I am not exactly sure what the filter is, or how it works. I saw something needed to be connected to the printhead, big cans of compressed air in the back, but the Zimpure itself did not look that big. Edit; looking at the opening shot in the video it is far clearer what the filter actually looks like. I'll check out the page some more, but overall I am very wary when it comes to kickstarter projects. There are so many (seemingly looking) good ideas, but miscalculations when it comes to actually making and shipping a product.
  10. Fair point. But even for outside there are interesting alternatives which do not always get the attention it deserves. I think ABS has the benefit of being around when 3D printing started, just as PLA and people grew custom to using it for more serious business over PLA. (besides that we also know it from Lego and some other daily use products). But PC is also pretty strong and heat resistant. CPE the same. And Nylon is also strong, but not as rigid as ABS. (which can be a good thing depending on what you need).
  11. electronics is not my field of expertise. But I do happen to know that @syntaxterror recently did a great job in helping Shurik. Perhaps he can shine some light on this case as well? That it moved to print right away is indeed weird. What firmware are you running on your Ultimaker? It could move straight to print when the start of a g-code is missing. Do you safely eject your SD card from your computer?
  12. Yes, it has a thermocouple. The UMO I believe, the UMO+ has a PT100. There were reasons.. but I can't think of them right now
  13. Unfortunately with PLA supports this would only work counterproductive, so I would not recommend it. The setting I meant is called support interface > support roof. If you have modeled this design yourself, I could also recommend to make an attempt at modeling your supports yourself too. The automatic generated supports in Cura are meant as a one size fits all, which in an ideal situation it can be good, but it is never perfect. Perhaps you can find some good tips in this thread There are some other interesting threads and replies Another question you can ask yourself, what would raise the price the most. The one or two reels of PVA, or the testing and researching various alternative solutions for PLA support (although you could say that this research is an investment for future projects too). Good luck!
  14. Perhaps @Neotko would be the best person to answer since he is a frequent customer to Aliexpress. But I would doubt anything is a 'good replacement' from Aliexpress, unless you can do your own quality control and know what to look for. It can be that there are some good ones in between, but overall it is a gamble and there is no consistency in quality.
  15. I checked with our technical support staff and we've compiled a little overview on how to change your prime position, (on a mac) if it interferes with your build volume. This is for the left extruder only. If you also want to change the position for the right extruder, do the same again, but change the Y position to 30 or something. It is advised to do a test run and monitor your Ultimaker before you start a print and have changed the position.
  16. It was my second guess that you mean the prime position, but I didn't find this setting in Cura (didn't look in the .json file) hence I didn't mention it. Glad you did! Does it mean you can now print your larger file?
  17. You can find a list of resellers right here I would recommend to get in touch with a reseller closed by to you and contact them with your request. Let us know when you have any other questions, good luck!
  18. Hi @Torgrimg, Thank you for your post and welcome to the Ultimaker community You are probably referring to the camera which takes up a little area of your build volume. Depending on your settings, there are other things you can do to get more access to the build volume. Do you still have a skirt enabled for example? You already mentioned a wipe tower which can take up some space.
  19. I can imagine selecting the right print on your SD card might be challenging. Unless you would remove all files every time before you save a new file on it so you only have 1. Are you interested to work around the problem (print over USB, although that is not ideal (if your pc goes into sleep mode or worse, crashes. Or OctoPrint) or are you interested finding out why your screen keeps dying?
  20. Hi Guys little update from our side about this; the footnote on the materials page has been updated so it better represents Ultimaker and our open filament system. Thank you for having this discussion with us! It now says 'NOTE: The information provided here applies to Ultimaker PLA, similar quality can not be assured with third party filaments.' It does not mention warranty, but that we can not guarantee the same print quality with 3rd party materials, which I think is only fair. In regard of the general warranty statement in our warranty policy, a new recommendation has been made and it is under approval now. Once it is live I'll let you know!
  21. @bschulte, I would also recommend to print it with PVA (upside down or like this). With a support roof (solid top support layer for good surface quality of the build) you should get a good quality. Is there a particular reason why you did not want or think of printing it with PVA? PVA adheses well with PLA or Nylon as build materials.
  22. Great tip, thanks for sharing! I have heard it before and seems to work nicely. Before you start dissolving your PVA, you break of some supports first which you can then use for your slurry? Plus it also helps to dissolve your supports faster (cause there is less) so it is a win-win situation! With the glue stick, how do you mean it was rough? Did it affect your bottom layer? Some people add some glue from a glue stick and then use a warm damp cloth to spread it out over the glass bed. Perhaps this could also be something to explore
  23. Ha @3DCase, zou leuk zijn als je ook langs kwam. Ben je al eens op de nieuwe locatie van protospace geweest? RSVP. 'Respondez s'il vouz plait' (of zoiets... mijn Engels is beter dan mijn Frans )
