  1. Is your third fan (the one in the centre of your printhead) still running? How does your PTFE/TFM coupler look like on the bottom? (where actually PTFE should be TFM after it was upgraded in the + upgrade).
  2. The print core should not be long, and I am not sure about a nozzle for abrasive materials. Not in the near future anyway.
  3. There were quite a few other questions and suggestions in my post besides the comment about the tape
  4. Potential useful update: Anatomy of an Ultimaker 2+ Anatomy of an Ultimaker 3
  5. A video or recording of the sound should probably help us define if the sound is out of the ordinary or not.
  6. Hi @skangster, welcome to the forums! It looks like there are 2 problems. On the first photo it looks like your print is just not attaching to the buildplate / tape. What 3D printer do you have? It looks like an Ultimaker 2+? And why do you have the tape installed, is your heated bed defective? My first advice would be to level your bed properly. Especially in the back left corner it looks like the bed is too low. Something you could print to check if your bed is level. Could you share a photo with us? (just 1 or 2 layers all around would be good) Is your Ultimaker standing stable on all four corners of the frame? At what speed are you printing the first layer? I would recommend 30mm/s max. The benchy suffers from under extrusion. Could you share with us some key settings from Cura? At what speed and temperature did you print it? What material did you use? How many print hours have you been using your PTFE coupler for? It is a consumable which can start to show some signs of wear and tear, under extrusion being one of them. It looks like it mostly starts when it has to do retractions, which could indicate it has troubles passing by the PTFE coupler. Is your 3rd fan in your print head still working? Looking forward hearing back from you!
  7. @carsten, good to see you! Your work looks amazing, once again!
  9. @Neotko, with the Mark 2? Didn't think of that before. Would it make sense? I can imagine it would make sense to either go full 1.75 or stay 2.85. For the sake of discussion, would combining it in a dual print result in a normally strong print or would layer bonding be weaker or something?
  10. @latreides, congratulations with getting an Ultimaker 2+. I'm sure you will be happy with it. I understand it can be a concern, you want this investment to be something which is also prepared for the future. It is a good thing to think about tomorrow, but don't forget to enjoy today as well! You have a concern that 2.85 might go out of fashion, and some users here don't. Perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle. IF 2.85 comes more difficult to source, there is a variety of solutions available to modify your Ultimaker into a 1.75mm machine, like suggested above. But perhaps that will never be necessary. So I would like to suggest to not break your head over it and make sure to enjoy what tools you can use today. And I'm curious to see what you will be making. Care to share your prints with us on our 3D print page?
For M5 rods on the Z axis you need z steps=4000 however with this high value of steps/mm you need to slow the max feedrate down a bit ' ------- define HOMING_FEEDRATE_Z (4*60) MOVEMENT SETTINGS @section motion default settings define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {80,80,4000,500} // default steps per unit for Ultimaker define DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE {300, 300, 5, 25} // (mm/sec) define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION {3000,3000,100,10000} -------' find the above section in the configuration.h and change define HOMING_FEEDRATE_Z (2*60) define DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE {300, 300, 2, 25} // (mm/sec)
  12. While we patiently wait for hstaub to upload a video so we can help identify the issue, @gr5's comment about no vertical video made me think of this I saw a while back, vertical video syndrome.
  13. Hi @chezley15, Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums. Since when can you not print anymore? Out of the box with a new 3D printer or after a failed 3D print? Without a lot of background information; perhaps you should try the Atomic Method. Good luck!
  15. I've seen people talk about 0.8 print cores (which are also in Cura already). I don't think the other necessities (like what is in the Ultimaker 2+ advanced 3D printing kit) should be much longer.
  16. The list of issues indeed do not sound like firmware issues. Which firmware version are you using? Following our assumption that the problems are not firmware related, but most likely calibration or hardware I would recommend to post a new thread here, and write down a precise description of what happens when these issues occur. The more information (and photo's) you provide, the better we will be able to help. Thank you!
  17. Hi everyone, this forum topic is now closed. We just released Cura 2.6 Beta. Please follow this link for more information and a new thread to share your feedback with us. Many thanks for your help, it is very much appreciated!!
  18. Hi! Cura 2.6 Beta is here, and if you are interested you can help us beta-test it. We have gone ahead and have done some thorough testing ourselves, but we can’t guarantee the same print reliability as our latest stable versions just yet. If you are working on an important project, we recommend that you use the latest stable version of Cura. Feeling adventurous? Join us and take these new features out for a spin. We welcome any feedback you have after using Cura 2.6 Beta in this thread. Our software developers are monitoring this page. Here is what Cura 2.6 has in stock for you, and I’ll start with my personal favorites: Cura versions. Cura 2.6 beta has local version folders, which means the new version won’t overwrite the existing configuration and profiles from older versions, but can create a new folder instead. You can now safely check out new beta versions and, if necessary, start up an older version without the danger of losing your profiles. Better support adhesion. We’ve added extra support settings to allow the creation of improved support profiles with better PVA/PLA adhesion. The Support Interface settings, such as speed and density, are now split up into Support Roof and Support Floor settings. Support meshes. It’s now possible to load an extra model that will be used as a support structure. More valuable features which are a great improvement and will definitely help a lot of users are: Towers for tiny overhangs. We’ve added a new support option allowing users to achieve more reliable results by creating towers to support even the smallest overhangs. Plugin installer. It used to be fairly tricky to install new plugins. We have now added a button to select and install new plugins with ease – you will find it in Preferences. Project-based menu. It’s a lot simpler to save and open files, and Cura will know if it’s a project, model, or gcode. Do you want to read more about Cura 2.6 before giving it a try? Here is our blog post with a more elaborated list of new functionality and improved features. Ready to give it a try? Download Cura 2.6 Beta here. If you rather prefer the latest stable version, Cura 2.5 can be downloaded right here! Please let us know what you think below, and help us improve Cura 2.6 Beta and fix any bugs we may have overlooked. Thank you for your help!!
  19. Hi @hstaub, We are looking forward to hear if you still need any help, or if @gr5's answer has been of enough help for you.
  21. Every Ultimaker Session we try to invite a guest who can teach us something. The topics may vary, but one thing is for sure, 3D printing is key. I don't think 3D printing has been more important and essential than for our next guest; Ultimaker itself! Besides that we put a lot of research in designing the Ultimaker 3D printer, we also build and use them ourselves. You may have already seen our story how we used the Ultimaker 2+ to prototype parts for the Ultimaker 3. But we also use 3D printing to build other Ultimakers. For this Ultimaker Session we have invited some colleagues from our Quality Assurance department who will tell us about a range of tools they use during the assembly of Ultimaker 3D printers. Tools they have designed and 3D printed themselves to be used in production. Besides that, we also use these tools to check new parts we receive to verify if they are completely within spec. As you can imagine, these parts need to be pretty accurate. Want to know more? Make sure to stop by ad pay us a visit! It promises to be another very interesting Ultimaker Session! We are looking forward seeing you at Protospace. If you have an interesting project or topic to share during an Ultimaker Session, make sure to let us know! Date: 29th of May Location: Protospace, Padualaan 99 Schedule: 17.00 - 18.00 Doors open. You can also order food (10 euro pp, cash or card) 18.30 - 19.00 Presentation 19.00 - 21.00 Drinks and discussions 22:00 Wrap up We would appreciate it if you could RSVP following this link. Thank you!!
  22. Hi @Conni, Thank you for your reply and welcome to the forums. I see you mention you prefer to post your comment in German so you find the best words, but your post is in the English section of our forums where the spoken language is English (and probably very little know German). You might be able to find the best words in German, but chances that many of us will understand them are significantly smaller Would it be possible for you to translate it into English, or if you don't want to loose your original reply, write an English summary / translation underneath? For future reference I would appreciate if you could consider the spoken language of the forum you are posting in, so everyone can continue to understand each other. Hopefully you understand. Thank you for your time and have a great day!
  23. Is everyone aware that there is also an amazing community contest going on where you can win a full Mark 2 upgrade, including an extrusion upgrade? Definitely worth checking out!
  24. If I search for replace PTFE the first hit is a resource page that tells you how to disassemble the hot end. If I search for replace teflon, it is the second hit. In regard of the search result difference; apparently there is a limit in the google search API that restricts how much data you receive back after a query. This restriction may vary, perhaps depending on the exact search, time of search or something else. Our dev's were not sure, asked google (earlier already) but have not heard back yet.
