  1. Hi @Unccheezy, thank you for keeping us updated and our apologies you seemed to have such difficulties with your print core. I think it would have been interesting to get some more data on your print core, if indeed it has been so different from our instructions of our intention on how it should work. What is the latest update on your print core? Are they all back in working order again? Looking forward hearing from you!
  2. Hi @DaveCatt, welcome to the forums! It is great that people also take the effort to underline a positive experience. I know 3DGBIRE thinks very high of service so I am not surprised you got it, but I am happy you did What is it you will mostly be printing? What materials have you already tried so far? Looking forward seeing more of you!
  3. Hi @Bjorn, thank you for sharing your methods. Am I right in understanding that the biggest part of your supports (everything except for the roof), is print with your build material, and only the roof with PVA? That is a great way to save materials, and time since you don't have to switch heads that often. But it only works with supports on the outside right? If your support is inside your model and you can not access it with a pair of pliers you have made a high quality maraca
  7. Hi @lbemelmans, welcome to the community! Excited to hear you bought an Ultimaker 3 Extended for your architectural firm. Anything you can share on what kind of applications you will be using it for? In regard of the silent install, I will call in help from @Nallath, I think he should be able to provide some information. Thanks!
  8. Hi @unccheezy, we are sorry to hear you are having difficulties with your print cores. Have you reached out to your reseller for help? Perhaps with some more information the community can be of assistance too. About your question, in theory it is possible. But due to the internal design of the print cores they are optimized for either the building materials, or supports (PVA). This means, that especially a build material on the BB core will ooze more, and PVA in an AA core gives you even higher chances of a clog. Hopefully this helps, but if we could help you get your print cores back in working condition that would be even better!
  9. hmm, I would say probably somewhere in between Estimation is around the end of Q1 but don't pin me down on it. I know @Neotko has been feeling adventurous about modifying his print cores, and I believe he also installed a different nozzle. But it is important to know such modifications come at your own risk. When you speak of a smaller nozzle, are you thinking of 0.25mm or even smaller? If you don't mind sharing, I am curious of what you are making
  10. With more information provided perhaps we could help!
  11. Hi @Rossboss, it is true that these different nozzle sizes are compatible with the Ultimaker 2+, they are not for the Ultimaker 3. The Ultimaker 3 has a very different designed printhead. If you have one, I am sure you have seen the print cores. The print cores are there to make your user experience easier and more straight forward. Among other things, the Ultimaker 3 can read data from the print cores so it knows what nozzle is in there, and for what materials this is a good fit. Swapping nozzles would compromise this concept. But we are working on different set of print cores to be added to the Ultimaker 3 parts. So you will be able to use them with a little bit of patience. The full picture is a little bit more complex than 'just' designing a new nozzle. As part of the concept, it should also come with pre-tested and pre-configured profiles for each material, especially aimed for that print core. Hence that we did not have a full set ready at launch. But it is coming Let me know if you have any further questions!
  12. Before tinkergnome put in his 2 cents, it could be worth investigating if it is indeed the firmware by installing default firmware and see if the 'freeze' stays away.
  13. Hi Fabreax, thank you for your message. First of all, I am happy you have spoken to your reseller and the wheels are set in motion to, at least, address your issue and get you back to 3D printing as soon as possible with your Ultimaker 3's. The packaging should suffice to ship your Ultimaker back, and forth. If your reseller thinks differently, they will replace your packaging with new protection. No point in shipping an Ultimaker 3 if you know it is going to arrive damaged. So I would try and not worry too much about it. I don't know what the exact agreement is you made with your reseller, but what is most important is that you will receive back a working Ultimaker 3, no? Your Ultimaker 3 was new, and at the very least will be put back into a new condition. Depending on what you agreed upon, you might receive your Ultimaker 3 back, or a new one. But I think the difference between your new Ultimaker 3, which is restored to be new, or an original new one is neglectable, as they both have none to almost no print hours on them, and they should both run effortlessly when you use it. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask! Have a great day!
  14. Cool video!! Do you make these often?
  15. @tinkergnome, do you think this could have to do with the firmware?
  16. Hi @Vapelounge, thank you for your messages. Sorry to hear you are not feeling satisfied at the moment. Lets see if we can help you get your Ultimaker under control If I understand correctly, you had difficulties with Formfutura PVA, and a dirty nozzle. You cleaned it and it worked fine for a little bit. Then you had a clogged nozzle again, and also Ultimaker PVA didn't work. Correct? First of all, I think it is good to realize, PVA is not an easy material to print with. Just the moist in the air can influence it already. It burns easily in the nozzle. That has nothing to do with the machine, but you are trying to print with a difficult material. Because it is tricky, we did our best to generate a default profile for you to use, to eliminate as much risk as possible. This Cura-profile is designed around Ultimaker PVA. I would recommend, to clean your nozzle once again, like you did the first time, and start a new print with Ultimaker PVA. Due to our open filament system, feel free to experiment or use other materials, but I would recommend to do so once you have gained some more experience with 3D printing and the Ultimaker 3, so you can make your own Cura profile and know what you are doing. Let me know if you have any questions, looking forward hearing from you!
  17. Just spoke with one of our technical engineers. She said there could be 2 reasons for this error message. Either an error in the firmware update, or an issue with a flat cable. The flat cable runs behind the Z-motor and controls your motion controller. It is either not connected properly or broken. It is generally not advised due to static electricity to fiddle around with your electronics, given that context I would recommend to get in touch with your reseller and look for the best solution. Let me know if you have any further questions!
  18. Hi Fabreaux, I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties with your new Ultimaker 3. Have you followed the instructions from the site, where it says to install the latest stable firmware? Did that solve your problem? Our apologies for the sloppy cutwork in the frame. If you are dissatisfied with the general quality, please reach out to your reseller and you can find a suiting solution. I will also forward the photo to our QC, so it can be used to optimize our processes. Thank you notifying us. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.
  19. Hi @xperiment, I have sent you the files through a different message. Could you keep me up to date if this indeed solved your issues? Thank you, looking forward hearing from you!
  20. Hi Ivonna, Thank you for your post. I'm sorry to hear you seem to have some difficulties with your print core. Could you perhaps illustrate your story with some photo's? Maybe that would make it easier to identify the exact problem. Before it was stuck, how was your last print? Did your last print go fine? Thank you for your time!
  21. @Tomnagel, Darn! Good catch, thanks. I corrected my original post to avoid any confusion. @zlagger, please see Tomnagels suggestion and turn Active Leveling off. You could also sit out the first 20mm of your print, and see if it automatically disappears then. It is only the first 20mm Active Leveling is well.. active.
Protospace is verhuisd!! Datum: 30-1-2017. Locatie: Protospace, Padualaan 99 Schedule: 17.00 - 18.00 Deuren open. Je kan eten bestellen en mee eten. (€10 p.p.) 18.30 - 19.00 Presentatie 19.00 - 21.00 Na borrelen en post processing time! 22:00 Einde. We zouden het op prijs stellen als je aan kan geven of je komtvia deze link. Bedankt!!
  23. Ultimaker Sessions is coming up again! After an interesting and informing Ultimaker Session about our beloved Ultimaker 3 we figured a little bit more interaction would keep things spicy! So lets get our hands dirty again This Ultimaker Session, we will talk about post processing your 3D prints with XTC-3D. Don't worry... I double checked. It is really a thing: XTC-3D. We are not going post processing on some crazy trip! XTC-3D is an epoxy resin which adds a protective coating to your 3D prints. Besides that, it makes it feel smoother too. (image from XTC-3D) We wouldn't be us, if we didn't do some experimenting too. All safe of course. We added some metal powders in the mix, which resulted in a pretty awesome metal-look on your 3D print. You could finish up with a final copper grease coating, to bring out the bronze look even more but that is not mandatory. During our presentation, we'll explain to you what we learned and what you should look out for if you would like to give this a try yourself. After the presentation, we will make sure to have some XTC-3D available so if you are interested you can give it a shot yourself We would like to ask you to bring your own print if you want to give it a shot. We are looking forward seeing you on Protospace's new location! Date: 30-1-2017. Location: Protospace, Padualaan 99 Schedule: 17.00 - 18.00 Doors open. You can also order food (10 euro pp, cash or card) 18.30 - 19.00 Presentation 19.00 - 21.00 Drinks, discussions and post processing time! 22:00 Wrap up Whoops, and before I forget, we would appreciate it if you could RSVP following this link. Thank you!!
  24. @Bavilo, hope you are well! I was just wondering if you have already made your decision? Like Didier said, it is allowed to talk about other printers here, of course! We would like to ask you to honor our house rules, besides that, everything goes Basically, Didier gave you a great answer. The zortrax m200 is a good machine. I don't think you can go very wrong with any of these machines, depending on what you are looking for. The Zortrax gives good results because it is completely locked in. There is a limit choice of materials available, very limited amount of options in their slicer and that is it. Like your favorite band has just one song. With Ultimaker, as a user you have more choice. We have developed our own slicer, with great default profiles and our own materials for you to use. But we don't limit you to only this. You can use different slicers, you can use third party materials.. and you can just talk about other 3D printers on our forums Like stated above, this generates some learning curve, but in the end you have more freedom and more options. Basically a more versatile machine. Again, like Didier said, the option to swap nozzles can allow you to print much faster or more detailed. And it makes any potential maintenance a breeze. So it comes down to, do you only want to print this one thing, both printers would be a good match for you. Do you want room for growth, versatility, and expansion, I think the Ultimaker would be the best fit for you.
