With the UM2 this is done on the machine instead of in Cura. The idea is that you slice something with Cura, regardless of the exact material that you use. The machine should know what material is used (and therefore the temperature / flow / diameter, etc)

Reloading the firmware should not fix this problem. It could be that you simply don't see the problem anymore. Its far more likely that the problem is caused by a pulley as gr5 mentioned.

The log file should be in the folder where you installed cura (for windows atleast). Cura uses a local connection to connect with the slicer engine. There have been cases where firewall settings messed with that connection (which prevents slicing)

We overhauled this in the new Cura. It now actually suport setting inheritence and will hide the basic speed if all children are visible. You can make custom 'sets' of settings that you use often, which enables a much more gradient skill slope.

If you would use the same type of material (but different color) the 2cm would be enough. ABS takes quite a while to get out. Also ABS is a lot harder to print. It doesnt stick to the platform as well as PLA and it tends to warp way more.

I very much doubt that we're going to void your warranty because you used it. Provided that you dont cut anything up or weld new stuff to it, I believe we're pretty flexible. Every time you switch material you should 'spool' the printer a bit by letting it extrude for a while. Like neotko already mentioned, it can take a while for all the old material to be pushed out of the nozzle.

The site did not take away any resources from R&D. Trowing more money at R&D wont make us produce anything faster, as we cant hire engineers fast enough (both because new people have transition periods and because engineers are rare in the Netherlands).

Nope, it cant do that. Not sure how hard it would be to build it, but its not on the list atm.

Wont have anything with dual extrusion. It is a good idea to wait though, as the old Cura will be abandoned in time (But dont fear, we will still provide downloads to it). So if you want to put a lot of effort in something (which is required for getting dual extrusion 'right'), waiting for PU release is a good idea.

Could you post the log of Cura? Its impossible for us to say what is going wrong without it. Also, do you happen to use a firewall?

Hmm, that is weird. The setting string should be below that. Could you report the issue on github?

Saw it (only because I actually went looking for it) but I won't be coming... I'm a bit fed up with things Ultimaker at the moment. Isn't that the best reason to go? Its very easy to be mad at a forum name or email adress.

We do let printers run overnight in our office and we did add several features that should prevent a machine from catching fire. Will we guarantee that it wont catch fire? Well, no. No company will do that, because it's impossible to say such a thing. Let a lone the legal consequences of saying that it's fire safe / proof (and it turning out its not the case).

Pause at height does something with certain layers. Should be possible to let it beep at certain heights aswell.

Ultimaker only changed the forum once as far as I can remember.

To be fair, I'm a moderator on another forum (a phpBB one), and users deleting or gutting their own posts is an occasional problem there. User comes along, posts a question, gets a reply, and then they delete their Q post as if it was not community property, leaving just the orphaned replies. Very annoying! However, the normal way to handle this would be to enable edits and deletes only after the user has established a reputation. That is one option. You could also prevent deleting posts once they have been posted for a certain time. But currently I am able to remove the content of the post, which is basicly the same as deleting the post.

Cura is not owned by Ultimaker. We do invest heavily in it (there are multiple software engineers working on it).

Send us a mesasge. Ill put you on the list for software tests. I'm not quite sure if we are going to have a public test version, but there will be a semi closed one.
