Do you find the ceramic tape is better than the Kapton stuff? Well, I should have written ceramic strip, it's not sticky. It's about 2mm thick, so I expect a much better isolation than from Kapton tape which is much thinner. The ideal thing might be a sandwich of both. On my UMO, I have a fan duct printed from XT which touches the heater block, just separated by one layer of ceramic strip and one of Kapton tape. It doesn't deform.

I use the UM fan shroud but put some ceramic tape between OB and shroud. Works fine for me.

Nevertheless, using a PTFE Bowden tube 8-12" longer than OEM will reduce friction considerably. Here's the stuff you want: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KJDE67G Also comes in 10" length. Some measured numbers for this reduced friction would be interesting. Are you referring to total friction or friction per length?

Teste doch mal, ob beide Achsen quietschen. Dann kannst Du den Lagerschaden ev. bestätigen oder ausschliessen. Könnte aber auch so eine Art Mini-Skipping von Schritten sein. Versuche doch mal ganz sachte etwas den Strom am Treiber zu verstellen (nur ganz wenig, die Dinger sind recht heikel). Ich würde zuerst eher etwas weniger Strom draufgeben. Wie schnell hast Du den Travel speed eingestellt? Mein UMO arbeitet ziemlich problemlos mit 250mm/s aber schneller würde ich jetzt nicht unbedingt fahren.

@Crema: Hast Du eine Idee, wieso die Düse so festgesessen hat? Gibt es da einen Zusammenhang mit der WaKü, ev. wegen anderer Temperaturverhältnisse?

Wow! Your block must be hotter than mine. I usually do 95C. Same here. With the 0.25mm nozzle I even have to pull at 66°C. With 0.4mm at 72°C. I have my Olsson block well isolated from the fan duct.

Well, that's a sad story. And it becomes even more sad after a quarter of an hour. Because then the two separate. Why? Well, at least one famous community member from Sweden knows for sure...! Sorry that was off-topic... and not (hint: that community member is already mentioned in this thread)...

Hast Du eine Idee, woher diese schwarzen Einschlüsse kommen? Ich hatte ganz am Anfang ein sehr ähnlich aussehendes Problem mit ABS-Abrieb des Original UM Feeders.

Ja, der Olsson Block ist ausgereift. Natürlich kann es in Einzelfällen zu Herstellungsproblemen kommen wie bei jedem Präzisionsteil. Daher würde ich Dir empfehlen, bei einem der Shops zu bestellen, welche 3dSolex auf deren Webseite angibt. Diese Shops leisten Dir sicher Support falls es zu Problemen kommt. Es gibt in Deutschland inzwischen auch Händler, die nicht direkt von 3dSolex beziehen. Wie es dort um den Support steht kann ich leider nicht sagen.

@Labern don't worry... I just had no time left to do it when I uploaded the images... So here we go: Material: Base, Top, Feeder: Diamond Age PLA Ivory Platform: Diamond Age PLA Chocolate Filament Spool: Diamond Age PLA Black Miniature Print: Diamond Age PLA Cherry Red Filament/Bowden: Diamond Age PLA Tactical Matt Black All parts were printed on my UM2 with Olsson Block / Robert's feeder through a 0.25mm nozzle around 190-195°C at 0.06mm layer height. The Bowden tube and the filament between spool and feeder was produced by extruding the TMB PLA through a 1mm nozzle. The TMB has the effect of enormous expansion when coming out of the nozzle; it doubles the diameter! This makes it tricky to print normally but was exactly what was needed here. Finally, I put the Mini-UMO on my UMO which you can see a picture of hanging on the wall behind it showing its original state on Day 1 of my 3D printing life. So it's really also a personal tribute to my UMO... Link to the print section

This Bowden is from 3dSolex. It is about 1.5cm longer than about the original UM2 tube and has a slightly larger inner diameter which does not affect the print quality or the retraction efficiency.

Beim Original hast Du eine Angabe, wieviele Prozente des Prints schon erledigt sind und dazu die verflossene Zeit. Beim UM2 hast Du eine Abschätzung der Restprintdauer. Ev. gibt es in der Firmware von @tinkergnome eine entsprechende Anzeige?

Selbstverschuldet oder vom Hersteller so geliefert? Im letzten Fall würde ich ein Feedback an den Hersteller/Verkäufer empfehlen.

Try another filament brand (maybe you have some UM filament left which came with the printer?), doesn't matter if it's better or not but just to separate the filament as a source of the problem. A good thing to check is also the filament diameter; be careful with filament above 2.95mm. For the fan shroud you may take any copolyester or PET as well as ABS or PC.

@pm_dude: It's a TFT coupler (up to 255°C alone and up to 300°C together with the I2K)

Hatte gerade eine verstopfte 0.25er Düse. Da sah es dann auch sehr flüssig aus. Beim Retract sollte das aber schon nicht vorkommen. Ging der Temperatursensor bei Deinem Olsson Block sehr gut rein? Dann könnte etwas Kupferfett um den PT100 herum ev. etwas bringen (mir scheint, die Düse bekommt zu heiss). Oder druckst Du mit extrem kleinen Schichtdicken? Dann hätte das Filament natürlich mehr Zeit zum Überhitzen.

On the 3dSolex website you'll find a list of local dealers. Flagship stores have the full program, including nozzles. But it's up to the individual stores what sets they offer.
