  1. Have you looked at your model in x-ray mode to see if there are and errors. Sometimes software like sketchup can have a line or single thin face that you can't see but will effect cura.
  2. you can use Printrun Pronterface it allows you to move the steppers and send commands to the printer and displays your temps etc. Not sure if you can run this without going through the initial start up though.
  3. Not very long but as long as it's moving a find it ok. What temps, initial layer height and speed r u using?
  4. There will be an upgrade kit available this month ( first quarter 2016 ) It will contain all the parts required to convert your machine to a 2+. Once installed you can change the machine to 2+ in cura and install the 2+ firmware.
  5. Yeah there is a batch number. More Info found Here with some bad batch numbers included
  6. hmm that's quite high. 100deg resistance could be worth it though. Especially if it doesn't stink my small unit out like ABS does. Layer adhesion is the next big question. the surface quality doesn't look anywhere as good as nGen. so maybe that's a separator
  7. Ultimaker had issues with there filament for a while where if you left it in the machine overnight or sometimes when printing it would break. you can test this by cutting 1m off the roll and taping it every 200mm in a straight line. the next day if its broken then you have a bad roll. This is not normal for PLA and should remain strong. Sometimes old rolls can have some issues also. you can get some temporary success by either heating the roll in the oven at 70deg for 30mins or putting it in how water and letting to dry before you print. You can search how to do this properly. Ultimaker PLA is now good and without these problems, colorfabb, diamond age and faberdashery are all good brands of PLA also
  8. Yeah I don't get why the now have 3. I would have thought that colorfabb would have killed of XT. Some comparative tests would be nice and or a proper usage chart to show what to select for different applications. But it does say this info is coming soon. Colorfabb only yesterday send my prize spools. would have been nice to have been able to choose some of this as part of it, but maybe I will have to buy some :(
  9. Is the 3rd fan working well and not clogged with dust? Or the copper grease like Neotko mentioned between the steel coupler and bottom aluminum plate?
  10. Did you clean the Blue tape with isopropyl alcohol to remove the wax coating? You may need to up the temp a little. I normally use Glue on the heated bed. It is a bit hard sometimes to get it to stick.
  11. I to was haunted by lots of ghosts
  12. Slowing a thin model can give a step in the finished product as the filament runs hotter and it extrudes more then the previous layers. Dropping the temp to suit you can risk more banding and even under extrusion as the temp under shoots before it comes back up to temp.
  13. You can do atomic pulls on the outside of the nozzle to clean it up. Heat it, Push a bit of filament onto the outside it will melt onto the nozzle, let it cool then yank it off. If you have nylon I would use that for the pulls
  14. You can get ones simular to this that you can bend into the shape you want.
  15. For larger nozzles you actually require less supports as the strands are a lot stronger and support them selves a lot better. You can reduce the percentage amount and the x/y direction to minimize the amount you need to remove. haven't tried the Z gap but this could also be an option as the strands will become fat and round so will be closer to the support structure then a smaller nozzle.
  16. No it hasn't. It's just getting a lot of work done to it. Yes the version numbers kinda changed. There has been changes to legacy cura because of the plus models and olsson block and the new cura is not ready for official release. The newest most stable of the rewrite cura is 1.99 and it has been around for a while with no released RC builds for some time. Some more updates are expected in the next few weeks.
  17. I have made something simular out of the same material as the sides. I got it machined at the local cnc router sign shop. It cost a bit to get one made but multiple pieces make the overall cost a lot cheaper
  18. I found reducing the speed percentage makes it worse. Cura 1.99 allows you to select different positions for z scar. Also if you set the travel speed to 250mm/s helps also not having the acceleration to low.
  19. Looks like the z scar. What Cura version are you using? What travel speed have you set?
  20. Is it grinding the filament or just not turning? If the temp is 170 or below then it won't extrude. Have you done any atomic pulls to make sure the nozzle is not blocked?
  21. I recon the UM2go is better then the UM2. Print Quality is slightly better. Faster travel speeds without skipping. Faster acceleration without ghosting, Easy as to carry around. Like Gr5 I use it the most out of any of my printers. So even though you might spend more you are just brining it up to the cost the UM2. Which I think it's better then the UM2 so it's worth it.
  22. The fan shroud will be ok. As the feeder is on the other side of the machine it will be interesting to see how it will fit. But I'm sure there will be a way to get it to work some how.
