  1. Is this before or after you pressed the control alt delete keys?
  2. I get what you are saying but heaps of people use plastic chopping boards, most of which had rough textured surfaces. Then they create cut marks in it not to different to layer lines.
  3. I'm in a factory that makes food packaging for companies around the world. You wouldn't worry so much if you see how most packaging is made. you may even prefer to print your own
  4. for PLA you don't need glue, just clean the glass with some alcohol and Be patient and let the glass fully cool once finished. then you can just pick it up as it will be loose. Removing the glass means you need to touch it, then re-clean with alcohol. For ones that are stuck on i just give them a knock or use a plastic ice scraper that came with my freezer.
  5. I second the onshape software. They have really good tutorials and email out tips. They even email you personally every now and again to see how well you are getting on and you can ask them questions and suggest improvements. They also add new features every 3 weeks along with tutorials on how to use them. The forum is good also. Now I sound like one of their salesman.
  6. You guys get to have all the fun. Looks like an interesting event. I guess you'll just be screwing around the whole time
  7. I haven't used it for that purpose but I have used it. its ok but not as good as i thought it would be. I would suggest acetone smoothing as it wont add any impurities into the cast
  8. Hey, this looks great. It would be a fun project. Did you end up buying a printer or getting this one finished?
  9. The feeder has a built in safety feature where it reverses (kicks) back a few mm if the pressure build up becomes to high. This stops the feeder grinding the material. To don't be scared to add more tension. By memory my spring length is between 11 - 12 mm
  10. so you mean we got an defect Batch of ultimakers? i have mine since july last year, i think is too late to send it back.... i#m having These Problems since the begining... Well I'm not sure if it's a defect batch. I went through the whole thing part by part and couldn't find a reason. Ultimaker got me to calibrate some things and print some files but issue was still there. So hopefully they can find the cause and it's an easy fix.
  11. I had a similar problem on my UM2go but the side walls wernt touching also. They ended up requesting me to send the printer back and they will supply me with a new printer. UM will investigate what is wrong and report back. I had tried heaps of different things but still stayed the same. and UM gave me ini files to print and I had the same issue.
  12. Well UM history shows UM2 came out in September 2013 2 years after UMO. So the 2 year mark is coming up again Olsson Block is a hot end block with changeable nozzles. You can use E3d nozzles and @swordriff sells his own brand.
  13. I don't think you understand the issue of this topic. If you set 1.2 top and bottom, You don't actually get 1.2 if 2 faces are 2 close together. You might get 1 solid layer then infill on top of the solid layer.
  14. Version 1.0

Just a mini circular saw I printed to accompany my mini drill. I also Printed little brief cases for them to go in as you can see in the video
  15. Yes I have also had problems with this and have a few designs with this issue. Would be a good to have this issue resolved.
  16. I don't use my printer I that field but you are able to get filaments like lay-brick that have a textured finish that help hide the layering of the material. It does make it look really nice. If you download cura then you can import one of your drawings and it will tell you how long the print will take. If you use laybrick then you could have a .2 layer height but still have a good appearance. This will speed up the print time. There are also aftermarket nozzles you can get that lay more plastic a lot faster but this reduces fine details. They can be found Here Once you get your head around how the printers work then you can make adjustments to your designs to also speed up the print process.
  17. yea, I'm going to print it soon, I guess I wonder why UM hasn't decided to include that in the box, or fix theirs. They are still shipping a "consumer" product that doesn't work out of the box well. I've spent a good part of a week reading this forum. without that I would be royally screwed. thank god for the forum. I just wonder how long it will take them to fix it. I don't think they want quick release design to help make it more simple for beginner users. Pre-heats the nozzle and displays what to do at each step. Also when new filament is loaded you select the material type. This makes sure the temp settings are always correct. But I totally agree that they should have released something better by now.
  18. Although they are both PLA they require different Temps and or other settings to print well. Measure the Dia as it could be a different size. Try a stick to good brands to get consistent results.
  19. PEEK seems to easy, Maybe PI, PAI or PBI. Must be easy to machine as some of the cuts look quite deep. I know peek is pretty to machine though.
  20. Is it something you printed on a makerbot?
  21. you sneezed so hard some brain goo came out?
  22. Maybe this was UM's cunning plan so people would be gossiping about the forum and waiting for its releases instead of spying on UM's secret projects and spreading rumors. I for sure have been waiting for forum releases and forgotten about what machine's or projects they will release next.
  23. I have made a heated syringe extruder for my um2. Was going to try pancakes sometime.
